I've finished three designs now. I need to make a total of twelve designs.

I'm going through the sample booklet when the door of my office opens and Devin walks inside. My heart skips a beat as he looks down at me.

"What the hell was that?" He asks me with his jaw clenched.

"What are you talking about?" I look up at him.

"You know what I'm talking about. Why the hell were you fighting with Sadie?" He looks at me with hatred.

"I wasn't fighting, she was being unprofessional."

"Unprofessional? She wasn't lying, was she?" He scoffs.

"Discussing private matters is unprofessional and disrespectful". I glare at him. "Why don't you go and teach her some manners instead of defending her in front of me."

"Because you disrespected her! Just because she's my assistant doesn't mean you won't respect her." He snaps at me, putting his fist on my desk.

"She was disrespectful first!" I Snap back. "She should've taught about that before asking me about my personal life!"

"So what if she asked you that? She was just asking!" He glares down at me. "It's not like you didn't almost burn the whole kitchen last night."

That makes my blood boil.

"Who the hell is she to question me?!" I stand up from my chair and walk around the table, glaring up at him. Why the hell is he so tall!

"She is my friend!" He glares down at me, leaning closer. "You will not disrespect her!"

"Then tell your friend to mind her own business!"
I gritt my teeth. "I'm telling you, if she ever crosses her limits again, I'm going to fire her!"

"You can't do that! She's my assistant. Only I can make decisions for her!" He leans even closer, so close that I can feel his breath on my face.

"Then she better not mess with me because it doesn't matter if she's your friend, this is work and she's the employee and I'm the boss, just like you. I won't tolerate her unprofessional behaviour!"

He keeps glaring at me with his jaw clenched. "You know what's funny?" He says in a low voice and scoffs. "Before marrying you I used to think I couldn't hate you more" His eyes pierce through me, his gaze sending shivers down my spine, filled with hatred. "But I was wrong. Turns out I can hate you even more."

He looks at me with hatred and then turns to walk out of my office.

The moment he's gone I feel my heart aching, like it's going to stop. I feel this large lump in my chest and my throat feels like there's something stuck there.

My eyes starts to sting as I sit back down on my chair, I look at my hands and see them trembling.
I feel my lips tremble too.
No, I can't cry.
