Give 'Us' A Chance

CHAPTER 9

"Mr. Ethan Thomas, start the presentation." He took a deep breath and started the presentation; I thought this old man would interrupt him or something but didn't say a single word. I couldn't give much attention to the presentation I already knew what was in it. But also, because why is he working as my PA? Why was he looking for a job? 

What if he was trying to gain some experience before taking over his dad's company. 

Yes, it can be but if he wanted to, he could have mentioned his dad's name, and anyone would have gladly given a job to him. He is literally 27 now, no job experience. Something doesn't fit right here. What if they are trying to spy and destroy my company. I mean, I do have a nice project in my hand right now, it will be highly profitable. 

But their faces say something else.

Hmm. Exactly. I looked over to that old man who clearly pissed me today. As much as I don't want to work with him the more it is beneficial for me working with him. He was looking impressed or surprised by the presentation. I mean, he is looking as if he never expected him to give such a nice presentation. Doesn't he trust his own son? 

The meeting was over, the old man gave some feedback (good one) which was very difficult for him to utter from his mouth. Pathetic person. Then, he went away. Only me and Mr. Thomas his son was in the meeting hall. I turned to him and asked. 

"You never told me that you are his son. I mean, obviously I wouldn't be interested in whose son you are but it's really confusing that being a son of billionaire you could have been the CEO but no, you are working as a PA. Why?"

He sighed and cleared his throat. "See, there is nothing for you to worry. He won't cancel the deal just because his son is a PA of his one of the business partners." 

"It's still suspicious, are you really working for me because you wanted to or is it something else?" I asked narrowing my eyes obviously, I would be suspicious. His eyes widened he understood what I was implying to say.

He shook his head and said, "No, I am not doing what you are thinking. Trust me, it's nothing like that. Well, to be honest Mr. Robert Thomas wanted me to gain some experience, he doesn't want me to make his company at loss because of mine carelessness."

"Your CV, it says something else?" I don't trust anyone easily, but I guess this time I can. Maybe. 

"I know, I mean professionally it won't sound nice that I am too much carless and lazy. But I am trying to change and work hard." He said and squeezed his eyes shut. He was embarrassed. I knew it, but he had been working so perfectly here.

SHUT UP. 

I walked slowly towards him and stood closely to him just an inches away from him, my eyes narrowed, arms crossed, looked straight into his eyes and spoke in a very low yet firm voice, but I wasn't angry. "I don't know how much truth you are saying but trust me if I sense any harm for my company. I don't care whom you belong to I will destroy you."

He gulped and was red again. I mean seriously. Why he keeps on getting red. What is he a lobster shell? 

I maintained the safe distance and he breath out and cleared his throat. He was looking anywhere but me. "Mr. Thomas" He looked at me and was blinking frequently. 

"Today is half day, so you can leave if you want to." He just simply nodded, and I went from there. 

I don't know but I can see that he wasn't lying. I mean, he looks way innocent to do something fishy. But looks can be deceptive right.

He looks genuine to me. 

Sure, why not. 

I need to clear my head. Maybe, just roaming around a bookstore, feeling the books smell, choosing what to read next after I complete reading the current one will clear my mind. It does, every time. This time also it will help me clear my mind. With that I took my car and went towards a bookstore.
