Pete
Son of Fall Out Boy Guitarist in Critical Condition Following Apparent Assault
AP LOS ANGELES - The 16-year-old son of Fall Out Boy's guitarist and lyricist, Pete Wentz, is in critical condition in hospital tonight following what seems to be an assault.
Jaime Clarke, became known to Wentz just last year when the teen's mother passed away from cancer, revealing to both Wentz and young Mr. Clarke their relationship.
Since being in his father's custody, Jaime Clarke (it is unclear if Jaime has, or is/was planning to change his last name) has battled cancer, a similar type to the one that took his birth mother, and now has become the victim of a brutal assault.
Sources close to the family have mentioned that Jaime had gone to Santa Monica, where he was born and raised, to meet with some friends from school before he relocated to Beverley Hills.
The source was also authorized to tell us that while Jaime had been visiting with friends in Santa Monica, his battered body was found outside the gate of Wentz's Beverley Hills home. Hours after Mr. Wentz had dropped his son off to meet with friends Wentz is said to have received a phone call from his son's phone and while no one spoke, he heard sounds and commotion outside his home simultaneously.
Jaime is now in Cedar-Sinai Hospital in critical condition having suffered multiple injuries, including broken bones, traumatic head injuries and serious internal injuries. His prognosis is currently unknown but thought to be grim at this time.
Readers might remember that just last year, Jaime was diagnosed with a cancer similar to the one that took his birth mother's life. The teen had been taking the semester off while he completed treatments. For a short while, he had been joining his father on the band's tour until a serious illness forced the young man to return home for the duration of the first leg of the tour.
Jaime had recently been declared cancer free and had been looking forward to the holidays with his family.

I sat beside Jaime's broken body listening to the whoosh of the ventilator, the beeping of his heart monitor, the clicks of the pump delivering fluids and medications through his multiple I.V.s. Tubes came out of every possible orifice.
Doctors and nurses checked on him constantly. When they checked his eyes, there was no awareness in them. The spark that shone in his eyes when Jaime was with his siblings was missing. If I spoke his name, there was no response. I didn't know if he was truly alive or if it was just the machines keeping his broken body working.
My cell phone rang.
"Pete?" It was Meagan. I hadn't called her since Jaime had gotten out of surgery.
"Hey Meg. I'm sorry I haven't called," I said.
"It's bad, isn't it?" She asked.
I sighed.
"Yeah. It's really bad. Really, really bad," I wept.
"Oh, Pete," Meagan breathed. I could hear the tears in her voice. "Pete. We can't lose him. I can't. Not now. Not after everything."
