HueningKai left Soobin while they were in middle school. His family had to move to USA for whatever reason.

"Why're you leaving school? Am I a problem? Ain't we besties?" Soobin bombarded Kai with questions as he cried so much while hugging him. His nose was running too much, causing Kai's shirt soaked.
"Soobinie hyung, dad said he has business there. I promise you, I'll come back sure!" Kai said as he patted Soobin's back. He was crying too and those words were more like assuring to himself.
"You'll forget me right? You'll forget your Soobinie hyung? Maybe you'll be making there lots of friends and have fun but you will remember my name right?"
" I said I'll surely come back! I'll remember your name."

After that, days passed, months passed, years like almost 9 years passed.

9 years; that's quite a big number as time.

In USA, young Kai cried to his mother that when would they be back in Korea, but his mother never answered.

One night Kai listened to his parents' conversation from their room's door.
"Kai can't stop asking about when to go back to Korea. When will we go back actually?"
"Are we seriously wanting to go back? No, right? My business was a minor reason, and to make Kai separate from that Soobin kid was the major. We rich shouldn't even be mixed with the poorer sections, this is why classes are important. Poors for poors, riches for riches. Soobin maybe was a good kid, but mixing with him was affecting our reputation."

Kai didn't like his parents much in the first place. And then this big fatass lie was just fuel to his hatred.

"You think this is alright? We seriously ended up frustrating two innocent kids."
"I know, and even though I feel bad about this too, you know, society has some rules. Has some boundaries."

Just like said earlier that 9 years, that was quite a long time, and to be honest, Kai's hatred for his family never left but eventually he forgot the reason.

He forgot Choi Soobin's name.

After 9 years, his family FINALLY came back to South Korea. Since they realized Kai no longer remembered Soobin.

Kai was then 19, and Soobin was 21.

Meanwhile, within this 9 years, Soobin cried so much for Kai, hoping that he would come back. But the hope eventually faded away too.

After 9 years, Soobin had opened his own photographing shop. He was famous because both he and his employees were great photographers.

One day two customers came.

"You sure we lived in Ansan? Sorry I don't remember much." Kai entered the shop along with his sister.
"Yes! You know, this photographing shop is so famous, thought you should've taken a photoshoot?" She teased Kai.
"Sure!" Kai said.

Soobin's eyes were wide. He vividly remembered Kai's face even though it's been years. But his face had been a lot matured, and more importantly, no longer a smiley Kai.

"You are-"
"Yes! He is the famous businesses HueningKai from USA! You know him?" Kai's sister said excitedly.
"Kai-ah, how've you been?" Soobin asked with a weak smile.
"Umm, sorry, but, do we know each other?" Kai questioned confused.

Kai didn't remember him? Although that was the last promise he wanted to keep!

"It's Choi Soobin, Kai-ah, you really don't remember me?" Soobin's voice shocked and disappointed at the same time.

This time Kai seemed a bit too much deep in his thought. After a while he said, "You sound familiar?"

"Familiar? That's it?" Soobin just thought.

"Oh, leave it. It's been long time anyway." Soobin almost whispered the last part. His hopelessness of years were shown here.
"Excuse me?"
"Let's get ready for poses. Are you okay with these outfits? Since you're a famous businessman, any different outfit you want to get?"
"This one suit is fine."

When Soobin was clicking Kai's pictures in different poses, his sister was roaming around the shop. Soobin took it as a chance.
"Hey, Kai-ah, can we please talk after this shoot? Alone?"
"I was thinking the same thing. We know each other right? No, we knew each other in past right?"
"Yes." Soobin forced a smile.

"So, what was it between you and me in the past? So far I know I moved to USA really young."
"First, tell me, what do you remember from your past in here? Do you remember anything?"
"Not much honestly." Kai sighed. "After moving to USA, my family pressured me to be a good businessman. Here now I am. Only thing I remember that...." Kai hesitated for a bit.
"What thing?"
"I had a best friend when I was that young. The only thing I remember that I promised him that I will remember him. But I couldn't. I regret this, badly."

Soobin then patted Kai's head.
"It's alright. But if I said that friendship could be started from the scratch again, would you believe it?"
"What do you mean?" Kai asked confusedly.
"If I said that I was your best friend, would you believe it?"
"Soobin? Choi Soobin? This is why your name sounded so familiar?" Kai's eyes widened.
"First it hurt me that even though you came back, you forgot me." Soobin sighed. "But it's understandable, and can we start it again? Kai-ah, you're no longer the smiley you used to be." He pouted.

Kai hugged him tightly.
"So I forgot your name, your memories and almost everything, will you still want to be best friends with me?" He sobbed.
"My hopes went totally down within this long time, but it's high again. Yes, I miss the us we used to be when we were kids."

They both laughed together. After a long time, their laughter was so sweet to each other.
