It was just another wonderful day in Megaopolis, except that it wasn't a wonderful day.

But others don't know that... yet.

Do you want to know why today is not such a wonderful day?

I'll tell you why.

Because it's the Shadow Play episode.

Hooray, I say sarcastically.

Sorry, Uncle Mac, but I still haven't forgotten about our last encounter, and I still haven't forgiven you for it either.

So, if I see your face, you're getting punched and kicked in places that will make you hurt for eternity.

Currently, we're in his shadow theater, waiting for the play to start.

"I'm so excited! I haven't been to the movies in ages!" MK said excitedly.

"MK." I turned to him, my tail twitching in annoyance. "This isn't a cinema."

"Y/n's correct. It's a shadow play with puppets." Tang told him.

"Wha? Puppets? No!" MK whines, pulling out a movie poster. " I thought we were seeing Kung Fu Monkey Cop: The Movie!"

"Eh, check the back." Mei points to the back of the poster.

MK examined the back of the poster before his eyes landed on the Not Mayor. "Oh, Y/n, Mei. Isn't that the guy who gave us that weird key?"

"Just cover your eyes, you two." I covered MK and Mei's eyes, glaring at the Not Mayor.

The Not Mayor smiled creepily, waving at us.

"Eurgh. Well, that's not creepy at all." Tang wrinkles his nose in disgust.

"Point is, whatever we're watching, you two have earned a break." Pigsy looked at me and MK. "But I do expect Y/n back at work whenever she's ready."

I saluted Pigsy. "Yes, sir, Pigsy, sir."

"So, was Sandy just busy or..." Tang drags out.

"What are you talking about? We hang out all the time!" MK says.

"Nuh-uh, girlfriend! It's always Monkey King this or some scary skeleton thing that has been with you lately! And as for you!" Mei points a non-existent finger at me. "I know you haven't been home in forever, but we haven't seen you as much as we used to, and we miss you!"

Oh Mei, there's so many reasons why, and one of those is to protect you.

I rubbed the back of my head, looking at the wooden floor. "Well, I've been busy, and--."

"Mei's right! Just yesterday, you and MK blew off checkers' night cause you two had to study. Study what I might ask?!" Tang throws checker pieces at us.

"Alright, alright! I get it! It's just, Monkey King said..." MK began trailing off.

I placed a comforting hand in his shoulder, knowing LBD was getting to him. "We just need to be ready."

"Ready for what?" Pigsy asks us, but the lights start to dim.

"Shh! It's starting!" Tang shushes him.

"Tang, would you--." Pigsy was interrupted as Tang shushed him again.

The curtains then opened as my good ole' Uncle Mac appeared on stage, in a cloak to conceal himself, holding a glowing lantern as shadowy figures appeared on the wall.

Macaque-"Welcome viewers to a shadow play the likes of which have never been seen! It follows the tragic tale of a legendary warrior, and how those who bring light into this world inevitability bring darkness to those they hold dear."
