5 years later...

Ariana was out, walking through the city after her meeting for work. In the last few years she's become numb to a lot of things. She didn't find much enjoyment in her career anymore, but she pushed on.

The divorce really took a toll on her and she never really recovered from it. How could she when she was the one that fucked it all up.

Especially now, five years later she still felt guilty about it. She never even really got to apologise as you told her to leave when you found out and then let your lawyers handle the divorce, which meant she got zero contact with you.

She tried going to your house once, but quickly found out that you had sold it and no longer lived there.

She knew she didn't deserve the closure and that her apology wouldn't mean much, but she still would have liked to talk about it.

She hated not being able to see you or talk to you. Her life crumbled to pieces and even after the divorce, she kept being reminded of it as it was plastered all over social media for a while.

Nobody knew why the divorce happened, but there were a lot of speculations and theories from people online.

You could have easily publicised what she did to you, but you didn't. You wanted to move on and forget about her completely. She was not worth the time or energy.

You didn't care what the Internet thought happened. It didn't affect you in any way. The only reason people knew you was because you were married to a celebrity, a mistake you would not make again.

Ariana stopped in her tracks as she saw a familiar face in the distance. She blinked, thinking she had imagined it, but there you stood.

She started walking towards you. Maybe this was her chance to make peace. When she walked through the crowd and got closer to you, she saw a small child running around, which caught her attention.

Her eyes widened in surprise when the little kid ran to you and you picked him up. The smile on your face made her heart melt. It made her think of what it would have been like to have kids together.

She stopped walking towards you when you intertwined your hands with another woman's as she watched you. She looked her up and down, her face contorted in anger.

The woman was very clearly pregnant, which made Ariana clench her teeth. As if she hadn't suffered enough for what she did, the world decided to send her one more 'fuck you'.

In those years since the divorce Ariana didn't know what you were doing, you barely had any social media and never posted, not to mention that you had blocked her on everything you did have.

Your sister also blocked her and Jessica so they wouldn't be able to snoop. Ariana stopped talking to Jessica pretty soon after her divorce. It was too painful. She didn't need the constant reminder of what she threw away for meaningless sex.

Watching you with your family, all she could think about was how badly she fucked up. That should have been her holding your hand. That should have been her kid running around happily.

She was 36 years old and currently single, she would likely never have kids of her own. She was never fully sure if she wanted kids, but seeing you, watching how you interacted with your kid, she couldn't help but regret not having that with you.

You held your 2 year old in your arms as you walked hand in hand with your wife. You were out for lunch and were now on your way to do some shopping.

Your baby boy, Mason, was growing up so fast that you needed new clothes for him as he was quickly outgrowing his old ones.

You were happily talking to your wife as Mason clung on to you. Then you made eye contact with someone you once knew, someone who destroyed you.

You completely ignored her. You were over Ariana and what she did. If it hadn't been for her affair, you would have never met your current wife, Elaine.

You turned to your wife and you could see the anger in her features. Clearly she had also spotted and recognised your ex and wasn't happy about it, knowing what she put you through.

You knew your wife well enough to know that she would absolutely say something to her. She was protective and that protectiveness increased ten fold when she was pregnant.

"Not worth it." You said, giving her hand a little squeeze. There was no reason for her to get worked up over it.

After your divorce with Ariana, spending some time away from her, you realised that she never really treated you that well.

She would be clingy and then ignore you for a while, become moody and pick fights for no reason. That cycle kept repeating over and over again. You weren't sure how you hadn't realised it in all those years together.

But you got out, you healed and you were in a happy relationship. You met your wife 4 months after your divorce was finalised, 8 months from when you separated from Ariana.

Elaine was like an angel sent from heaven. She came into your life at exactly the perfect time. She made you feel again after months of numbness.

She was so kind and sweet. She was perfect, too perfect, which was what scared you. You kept your guard up for a while, but she was so patient and understanding with you.

You fell for her and fast. In a few months, you knew almost everything about each other. She was so easy to talk to and made it easy to forget what you went through.

You proposed after a year of meeting Elaine and got married a few months later. It all happened so fast, but you wanted to live in the moment. You were convinced that Elaine was your soul mate, your one and only.

There was no doubt in your mind that you wanted a family with her. You got lucky with IVF and Elaine became pregnant on the first try.

Now your son has just turned 2 and your daughter was due to be born in less than a month. With her birth, your family will be complete.

"Do you want me to carry Mason for a while?" Elaine asked after a while of walking. You had ditched the stroller recently as he liked walking a lot more and you found it easier to just carry him when he was tired.

You gave her a bewildered look when she said that. "Babe, you're already carrying our child 24/7." You told her with a chuckle.

"Just making sure you're okay." She smiled. You loved that smile of hers. "I'm fine. Have you seen my muscles?" You asked teasingly. You would have flexed your arm for effect, but you didn't want to let go of her hand.

"Hmm, I think you might have to show me when we get home." She hummed. "Any excuse to see me undress." You said, shaking your head playfully.

"Can't blame me for trying." She chuckled and you smiled, kissing her lips softly. "I love you." You whispered against her lips as you pulled away. "I love you." She said back with a smile.

"Mama love." Mason babbled in your arms. "Yes, we love you very much." You told him, kissing his forehead gently, receiving an excited little giggle from him.

---

Ariana couldn't believe it, you saw her, you made eye contact with her even and just completely ignored her. Not even the slightest change in your facial expression.

You looked at her like she was just any other stranger on the street after everything you'd been through together.

She didn't expect you to be happy seeing her, but she did expect you to be upset or angry or anything at all, not completely unbothered by her presence.

Somehow that hurt even more. You walked past her without so much as a thought. She would have preferred that you screamed and yelled at her. Or even flaunted how happy you were and what she lost, but nothing.

She hated being ignored, her jaw clenching as she watched you keep walking.
