Walking through the front gates of UA, I stop to stare at the intimidating structure that has taught thousands upon thousands of aspiring hero's. The early rays of sunlight reflecting off its many windows as the birds welcome the incoming students. Everything feels so surreal, standing in front of the school I only ever dreamed about attending since I was a kid.
A bright smile forms on my face. Are you seeing this mom? I've made it to UA, the school you've taken to become one of the world's greatest hero's. I'm going to become a hero who protects people just like you did!
My mom has always been a huge inspiration to me. Before she passed away, I'd see her fight criminals on TV and always come up on top. She'd always looked so fearless, as if she had nothing to lose. Being a pro hero meant she was gone a lot and didn't have much time for her family but she always tried to make up for lost time, and that's what I loved about her. She was a hero through and through. Her hero name was Zero and her quirk gave her the ability to control gravity, she was able to set varied gravitational fields on objects, people, and herself.
I got part of her quirk, though it was more of a hindrance than a gift. I don't have a gravitational pull, meaning my body doesn't weigh anything and will not abide by the rules of physics. Actually, once I got my quirk, at the age of 5, I was outside on a field trip with my class and I suddenly started floating and couldn't stop. Thankfully a lamp post was near by, and I grabbed ahold of it before I could float off. My mom was the one to bring me back down using her quirk. After that, the doctors recommended I wear weighted gear at all times, or else I could float into space and well...suffocate to death.
Trying to calm my growing nerves, I walk towards the front doors of UA. Quickly taking a glance at the map I printed out beforehand, just in case I get myself lost, which tends to be a habit of mine; I look for class 1-A. It's supposed to be around here somewhere, but I can't find it. This school is huge! How can anyone find their way around? Stupid map.
Just when I start thinking I'm going to be late for my first class and become known as a delinquent for the rest of my life, I hear commotion coming from just down the hall. Sounds like someone's cursing another person out. Cautiously, I walk towards the noise, the yelling getting louder and louder the closer I got to the classroom. I identified two deeper voices, one sounded like they were lecturing another, saying something on the lines of "where are your manners" and "school property", while the other barked curse words as they seemed to respond to the former.
I arrived at a huge door, it's at least 8 or 9 feet tall with the writing 1-A in bold.
I hesitated, trying to regain my composure, preparing myself for whatever or whoever I might face behind this door.
Before I could enter, however, I felt a small tap on my shoulder. I turned to face a young boy around my age with unruly green hair standing before me, he had emerald eyes and freckles that softly scattered his face, he was fidgeting with his uniform as he spoke.
"E-excuse me? A-are you heading in aswell?" He said, smiling warmly at me. I could tell he was really nervous because he started to sweat and slowly turn red.
"Yes, I am...my names (y/n) (l/n)." I turned to great him, with my own smile, "And you are...?"
"I'm Izuku Midorya!" His smile getting wider, happy to receive a kind response from one of his future classmates. They seem kind, he thought.
"It's nice to meet you, Midoriya, would you like to head in together?" I smile hopefully. I really don't wan't to head in alone. Just the thought of all the new faces I will meet unnerves me...but I also can't help my growing excitement! I finish my thought, shaking with excitement.
"O-of course!"
I nodded, giving him a grateful smile, turning to face the looming door once more. Alright, here goes nothing...
