The headmaster wasn't interested in their sisterly bond.
After handling the paperwork, he handed it to Little Beggar and urged them to leave quickly.
Before they left, he reiterated, "Don't offend anyone, don't cause trouble."
Xu Zhen nodded in agreement.
They collected their books and headed to Class E.
Recalling the classroom atmosphere she saw yesterday, Xu Zhen felt uneasy.
She turned to Little Beggar and advised, "Don't listen to the headmaster. If you need to offend, do it. Don't be afraid of trouble."
Little Beggar looked up at her.
Xu Zhen shared her life experience, "The classroom is a microcosm of the court. Once inside, don't hold back or hesitate. If someone hits you, hit back. If you can't win, shout for the teacher. Never let anyone bully you."
Little Beggar replied, "Okay."
Xu Zhen added, "You speak slowly, so in an argument, you might lose. Don't waste words—act directly."
Little Beggar said, "Okay."
They chatted as they walked to the classroom.
Inside Class E, a few students were also talking.
"Who is that new female teacher that dared to speak to me like that yesterday?"
The speaker was the boy who had a verbal spat with Xu Zhen the previous day.
His name was Li Sanlang, a child of a military family, and he was the leader among the boys in Class E, always followed by a group of juniors.
Not having bested Xu Zhen yesterday left him fuming, and he complained to his father.
To his surprise, his father didn't console him but instead advised him to follow this teacher and study hard, promising that it would lead to greater achievements.
Li Sanlang was so upset that he didn't do his homework and came to the classroom early.
No matter how he looked at it, he felt angry, grabbing a junior by the collar and demanding, "Tell me, what illness does that new teacher have? Doesn't she know who I am or who my father is?"
The junior, pleading for mercy, said, "Sanlang, let go first. I was just about to tell you about this!"
Li Sanlang released him and asked with a frown, "What do you have to say?"
The junior scratched his head and leaned in, saying, "After I told my mother about it yesterday, she said she knew this Xu teacher from before she got married. They lived on the same street."
Li Sanlang became interested and quickly asked, "What backing does she have?"
The junior said, "None."
Li Sanlang was puzzled, "No backing, yet she dares to speak to me like that? Where does she get her courage?"
The junior quickly explained, "My mother said she's just a mediocre scholar, quite pedantic. She taught for two years before, but poorly, making her students foolish. She's just a straw bag who doesn't know much, relying on her grandfather's background to teach at the academy."
