She let out a sigh of relief and pointed to the window, saying, "You need to come out quickly! If you dismantle the window, you can get out!"
Xu Qianchun nodded, looking at the window as she said, "I can't open it."
Xu Zhen urged, "Aren't you skilled in martial arts? Just break it!"
After a moment of silence, Xu Qianchun asked, "Do you have the Hong Yue with you?"
"Hong Yue?" Xu Zhen was momentarily startled before realizing what it was. She quickly pulled out the red-and-green small sword from her waist and stuffed it through the grid of the window.
Xu Qianchun took the small sword and removed it from its sheath.
A flash of red light appeared as she swung the sword, and the wooden grid of the window shattered, revealing the tough metal beneath.
Xu Zhen was astonished.
Why was this window made of iron?
Xu Qianchun explained, "There are many valuable books inside."
A thunderous boom sounded.
Xu Zhen didn't catch what she said and asked, "What?! What did you say?!"
Xu Qianchun looked at her and raised her voice, "To prevent thieves!"
Xu Zhen was extremely anxious, repeating, "Forget the window! Look for another way out-hurry and get out!"
Xu Qianchun responded, "We can jump from the second floor into the tree."
Xu Zhen urged, "Then jump quickly!"
Xu Qianchun nodded, turned, and hurriedly ascended the staircase, quickly disappearing from view.
Only then did Xu Zhen notice that the water inside was rising dangerously, nearly reaching her knees. Her head was pounding from the wind, and although she had originally felt too cold, she now began to feel slightly hot.
The combination of wind and rain reminded Xu Zhen of the last time she had taken shelter in the valley from human traffickers with Xu Qianchun. But that time, the rain had been a gentle drizzle, soft and tender like Jiangling. This time, it was a deluge that could crack open skulls!
Xu Zhen continued to lean against the window, peering inside.
Suddenly, she realized that lightning striking the tree could spell disaster for the entire building.
Plus, that damp wood would easily conduct electricity, wouldn't it?
Her mind raced with these thoughts, and she felt a burning discomfort in her head and cheeks. Fearful that she might have a fever, she hurriedly opened her inventory to exchange for a healing medicine.
After taking the medicine, her mind felt much clearer.
She casually glanced at her inventory, hoping to find something useful, but all that was available were martial arts manuals-nothing else.
Through the sound of the rain, she suddenly heard someone shouting and running, their footsteps splashing through the puddles.
Xu Zhen figured that perhaps Xu Qianchun had come out.
She edged along the wall and moved forward a bit, spotting several people jumping out of the second-floor window and landing on a tree, then descending the trunk and running away.
It seemed those inside had found their way out.
So there were this many people inside?
Xu Qianchun should be safe now.
