Marjorie and Reece woke up that morning with a mix of excitement and nerves swirling in their stomachs. The sun streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow in their bedroom. They had both booked the day off work, leaving their deputies in charge, and the anticipation of their first maternal appointment was palpable. As they shared breakfast, all the couple could talk about was their hopes and dreams for the little one they were expecting. Reece kept glancing at Marjorie, a smile tugging at his lips, knowing that this was the first step in a journey that would forever change their lives. They both felt ready to embrace whatever news awaited them at the doctor's office, their hands naturally finding each other across the table.
While Marjorie was in the shower, the sound of water cascading filled the bathroom, Reece took the opportunity to check his phone, scrolling through messages when he noticed a text from Autumn pop up. He slumped down on the edge of the bed reading it:
'Aut the Goblin: Good luck today.
Me: What's wrong? You're being nice?
Aut the Goblin: Shut up Reece.
Me: There it is!' Reece chuckled as he placed his phone down, hearing the shower turn off and the bathroom door creaking open. Marjorie emerged, wrapped in a fluffy white towel, her hair damp and cascading on her shoulders.
She looked radiant, a hint of steam still lingering in the air around her. With a playful smile, she caught Reece's eye, who had his eyes glued on her. Reece raised his eyebrows passing a suggestive look over at his Wife. Marjorie rolled her eyes smirking as raised her finger at him,
"No, you know how late we would be." She raised her eyebrows and walked towards the chest of drawers to pick out an outfit.
Reece chuckled, knowing she was right. "You're right, but it's hard to resist when you look that good," he said winking playfully in her direction, watching her pull folded clothes out of a drawer.
Marjorie glanced back at him, a teasing glint in her eye and an eyebrow raised. "Flattery will get you nowhere if we miss this appointment," she shot back, pulling out a black jumper and leggings,
"Fine, fine," he conceded, raising his hands in mock surrender. Marjorie got dressed, pulling the jumper over her head and sliding into the leggings. While Marjorie was getting dressed, Reece wandered over to Rocky's crate and opened it, the exited dog jumping at Reece's legs. He ruffled the golden dog's head and wandered over to the kitchen, Rocky following eagerly behind. Reece grabbed a dog bowl and poured some of the puppy's food into it before placing it on the floor where Rocky leapt at it, eagerly eating.
Not long later, they were ready to go. Marjorie grabbed her bag, giving one last glance in the mirror before heading out. Reece was already waiting by the car, a playful grin on his face as he hopped into the driver's seat. Marjorie slid into the passenger side, fastening her seatbelt as Reece started the engine and drove off down their road Marjorie turned on the radio to blast 'Tears Dry on Their Own by Amy Winehouse'
Before long, they approached the clinic. Reece parked the car, and they both took a moment to gather themselves. "Here we are," he said, turning off the engine and looking at Marjorie.
She nodded, taking a deep breath and smiling as Reece got out of the car to open Marjorie's door, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. Marjorie stepped out of the Porsche and Reece slammed the door shut behind her, taking her hand as they walked towards the glass double doors into the reception.
As they approached the reception, Reece squeezed Marjorie's hand reassuringly. He stepped up to the reception desk, "We have an appointment for Marjorie Knight," he said confidently.
