After Blake left, things changed for me. I refocused on the bookstore, trying to keep my mind occupied. But no matter how much I tried, he was still present in my thoughts. Every time the door to the bookstore opened, I hoped to see him there. But he never showed up.
Josh and Lynn, on the other hand, were finally reconciling. After so many ups and downs, Josh seemed determined to make things work with her. And while I was happy for them, there was a part of me that missed how things were before everything changed.
One night, as I was closing the bookstore, I received a message from Blake. It was brief, straightforward, just like he always was.
"I'll be back. Wait for me."
I read and reread that message, trying to understand what it really meant. Would he come back? And if he did, what would become of us? I didn't know if I could keep waiting, but part of me just couldn't give up. Whatever it was, Blake would always be a part of me.
