Whatsapp, but I'm lonely

The sleepover is over, now it's just a depressing Sunday afternoon. My room is a mess and I am buried in homework and assignments.

I put my hair in a ponytail and sit at my desk, trying to do my geometry homework, but my phone keeps ringing with notifications.

For a second, my stomach clenches in fear, thinking it's him, but the screen lights up and I notice that I've been added to a Whatsapp group.

The Marvelous family🦸🤪

Robert: Hello everyone!

Let's welcome our newest member of the family...

                 Abby!❤️

Evans: Hey kiddo!

Lizzie: Hello💗

Holland: Hey!😄

Mackie: 'sup?

me: Hey everyone 🥰

Scarlett: Hi!

                  What are you doing, honey?

me: Homework :(

Mackie: That sucks

me: It does

Holland: What homework do you have?

me:  geometry 🤮

I'm doing so bad, I think I heard Euclid screaming in his grave...

Robert: I love this kid🤣

Lizzie: You should be doing your homework instead of talking to us :)

me: You should've thought about the consequences of your actions before adding me to the group😁

Sebastian: She's got a point

Evans: Guys, here's the schedule for next week

              *pdf attachment*

Scarlett: 👍

Lizzie: Abby, honey, how was your weekend? Got enough sleep?

me: Nah, not really

Had a sleepover with some friends 🤪

Scarlett: That sounds like fun! 🙂

Mackie: What do kids these days do at sleepovers?

Sebastian: Thanks for making us all sound old.

me: Well pranks, karaoke, movies...🤪

         Those kinds of stuff

Lizzie: Pillow fights?

me: Sure :)

Sorry I have to get back to my homework

Thanks for adding me to the group!❤️

Scarlett: She really is the sweetest kid ever

I smile and turn off my phone. I already love these people. Sure, I'm so nervous for tomorrow... I may throw up, but I also can't wait!

I struggle with my geometry homework a little bit longer, before giving up completely and texting Ivy for the answers. She didn't respond right away, because she was getting her braces tightened at the dentist, but she eventually sent me the answers that she stole from Joyce, that he stole from some smart classmate.

After I finish all of my assignments, I put my headphones on and let myself be sad for a little bit. I don't want anyone's pity, not even their advice, so I always pretend that I'm fine around my friends, but it's really, really hard.

I bury my face in my palms and start crying. I cry quietly, even though I'm home alone. My shoulders are shaking rapidly and my hoodie gets wet by the hot tears streaming down my face.

I just want my old dad back. I don't know who this man who keeps texting me is. I want my dad from when I was little. My hero, my saviour.

My heart aches in pain and I let out a long and painful sob. The sound echoes through my mind. I just want my dad back. Please. I beg you.
