At the same time, how could she keep such a massive secret from her husband? She sighed, guilt gnawing at her.
Rahul hadn't hurt her this time; if anything, he had helped her when she fainted.
And judging from the shock in his eyes, he hadn't planned to see her.
He wasn't following her, there was no way. She knew what Rahul was capable of many things but this, there was no way for him to have followed her here. It was impossible, even for someone like him.
And if he had been here for a year why had he appeared now? No, it had to be coincidental , And why help her when he could have taken her away so easily when she was helpless? Even the thought of that sent chills down her spine.
But at the same time She couldn't risk provoking Sunil. She wouldn't. Unless Rahul did something to threaten her again, she'd leave it alone.
She just had to be a tad bit careful. She wouldn't let him destroy the balance and peace in her life again.
Entering their home, Kiran hung her coat by the door and drifted into the living room, lost in the turmoil of her thoughts. The decision not to tell Sunil, at least for now, was weighing on her. She couldn't provoke a disaster.
But still... she felt unsettled. This first encounter could be a coincidence but what guaranty did she have that he wouldn't start stalking her now. Now that he knew she lived so close to him.
She sat down on the couch, trying to shake off the unease when something caught her eye. A coat , draped over the armrest. She picked it up, her brow furrowing.
It wasn't hers. The delicate floral pattern and soft fabric were completely different from anything she owned.
Confusion swept over her, but then a cold realization hit. It was someone else's. unmistakably a woman's.
Sunil had been working late a lot recently—more frequent meetings, longer hours at the office.
Could it be? No, she told herself. "You're jumping to conclusions. Sunil would never do that to her.
When Sunil came home later that evening, she couldn't shake the feeling. As they sat down to dinner, Kiran hesitated, watching him with careful eyes.
Her fork clinked against the plate as she gathered the nerve to ask, her voice softer than usual.
"Sunil, I found something today," she began, hoping she was wrong, hoping this was all just a misunderstanding.
"coat ... it was in the living room. It's not mine. Do you know whose it is?"
Sunil barely glanced up from his meal, his response dismissive. "Oh, that? Probably a friend's.
Maybe one of my colleagues stopped by for something work-related. Don't worry about it."
His casual tone stung. Kiran tried to press further, but his lack of concern felt like a wall between them.
"Who?" she asked, her heart thudding. "When?"
He shrugged, clearly not wanting to elaborate. "I don't remember. It's just a coat, Kiran."
The brush-off left her cold. A sickening feeling of doubt crept in. Sunil's answer was too vague, too indifferent.
If it really was just a colleague's, why couldn't he recall the details? She wasn't being paranoid, she told herself—she had reason to suspect.
And it wasn't just the coat. Sunil's distance, his late hours, the subtle shift in their conversations, it was all beginning to add up. But was she ready to face what that meant?
