She knew what he was about to do. She knew it as surely as she knew her own name, as surely as she knew the weight of the betrayal she had just witnessed. And without thinking, without even pausing to process it, she moved.

"Rahul!" she cried, her voice breaking as she sprinted forward.

Her legs carried her faster than she thought possible, and within seconds, she reached him.

Grabbing his arm, she yanked him down with all the strength she had. He stumbled, and they crashed to the ground together, his body collapsing into hers as they both fell to their knees.

Her arms wrapped around him instinctively, holding him tight, as if her very life depended on it. She was trembling, her breath ragged, her heart pounding so hard it hurt.

Rahul was too stunned to move, too stunned to even speak.

His mind, moments ago lost in the abyss, was now spinning, trying to comprehend what had just happened.

They stayed like that for a moment, tangled together on the cold stone floor, their breaths mingling in the night air.

She clung to him, her arms tightening around his waist, her face pressed into his back. She didn't even realize she was crying until the tears soaked into the fabric of his shirt.

He trembled, his breaths uneven, his hands trembling as they rested on the floor.

He couldn't speak. He couldn't even think.

All he could feel was her, her arms, her warmth...her breath against his skin.

The rose lay crushed beside them, petals bruised and broken.

And in that moment, neither of them noticed the first drops of rain falling from the sky.

It started softly at first, like a whisper, but soon grew louder, heavier, until the rain was pouring down around them, drenching them both completely.

The cold droplets mingled with her tears, but she didn't move.

 Neither of them did.

They just stayed there, soaked to the skin, wrapped in each other, drowned in their own miseries.

Her breath was warm against the nape of his neck, and she could feel the tremors running through his body.

The silence stretched on, but it wasn't peaceful. It was thick, heavy with everything unsaid between them. She held him tighter, her arms locked around his chest, her heartbeat matching the chaotic rhythm of the rain.

She was too consumed by the storm raging within her to care about the cold seeping into her skin or the water dripping from her hair.

Rahul knelt before her, soaked and trembling, but all she could focus on was the weight of his actions, the weight of what he had almost done.

Her chest ached, her breath coming in sharp bursts.

She clenched her fists at her sides, trying to steady herself, but it wasn't enough.

Anger bubbled up, hot and fierce, and she couldn't contain it any longer.

Finally, when she spoke, her voice was sharp cutting through the storm like a blade. she sounded angry, and was she? maybe she realized. though she didn't exactly know why.

"What did you think?"

she demanded, her voice cutting through the rain like a whip.

The sharpness in her tone startled even herself.
