•Chapter 4•

KARI

Saying no to Daniel was the hardest thing I ever had to do. The way he looked at me. Well there was no way to describe it, but I knew he would just use me. I'm glad I left the room with my dignity and frankly I could care less if I hurt his pride. He could deal with it. I stop by the Kitchen were I found Avery and Aiden passionetly making out. I made a face and walked back out, not wanting to inturrupt their ahem...moment.

"Hey Daniel..." says a girls voice. I whip my head around and notice a tall brunnete haired girl in a short black dress and high heels clinging to Daniels arm. My hands clench into fists at my sides and I frown.

Nope...I think. No way in hell he's going to get a reaction out of me. I shake my head and try to look away but I find myself frozen in place as Daniels icy blue eyes meet mine. The noise, the people, everything fades away as he stares at me with searching eyes. As if he was looking for something and couldn't find it. But he ruins the moment when he bends down and kisses the girl. All the while looking at me. I look away hurt and try to regain my balance as I stumble backwards. Someones arms catch me and I look up surprised. A tall boy with shaggy brown hair and hazel eyes looks down smiling at me. I stare dazed for a minute. He was really cute.

"Um hi!" I say smiling. His arms are still around me and I stand up straight. I turn around to face him better. Boy was he cute alright. I grin and he smiles back shily.

"Hi, I'm Sean." I frown and try and remember if he goes to school with me.

"Are you new?" I ask. Sean smiles and shakes his head slightly.

"No I go to the boys private academy right across the street from the elementary school." I nod my head and say, "Oh? What are you doing here then?"

"Im a friend of Jay and I decided to get out for tonight. I'm always studying and I needed a break."

"Oh I totally get it, My best friend dragged me to this party." I say briskly while trying not to look back at Daniel. I could feel his eyes burning a whole through me from behind.

"Want a beer?" I ask. Sean opens his mouth to say something and I feel myself falling forward as I'm shoved from behind.

"Oh I'm sorry..." Says a girl, I turn around to face none other than Fiza in her stunning black dress.

"Sean! I didn't expect you to be here?!" exclaimed Fiza. She walks closer to him and wraps an arm around his arm. Sean glances at me quickly then looks away akwardly. Clearing his throat he says, "Uh, Yeah I was just about to leave with Ummm.."

"Kari!" I say quickly.

"Yes Kari!" he says and takes my hand pushing everyone out of the way as we make our way outside. I watch him frustruatly run his hands through his hair as he pushes me into his car. Finally when he notices that were not even being followed he turns to look at me with a sheepish smile.

"Ooookay! That was weird." I say raising an eyebrow suspiciously at him. He grips the steering wheel tighter but doesn't start the car. We just sit there in silence as the moon light illuminates our faces and the stars all twinkle. I could hear laughter and shouting inside of the house as people dance or stumble outside drunk.
