Being the Player
Chapter 7
KARI
Walking down the hallways I'm left wondering if maybe I should have talked to more guys over the years, because then I wouldn't have the problem of staring at all the prom posters posted everywhere and wondering if anybody will ask me. Prom is everywhere; posters are plastered all over the walls that it leaves absolutely no room for other people to put up posters for other clubs. I can hear girls gushing about it every time I go to my locker. It's enough to make me want to shoot myself. I see Avery standing near my locker smiling a huge smile. I can already guess Aiden asked her to prom. I was right as soon as I got closer Avery started talking so fast, her long brown hair swinging side to side every time she bounced on her toes.
"Aiden just asked me to PROM! Can you believe it?" she practically screamed in my ear, because of her I was going to lose my hearing.
"Yeah I actually can." I told her, spinning in the combination and opening the door.
"What's wrong?" she said automatically knowing something wasn't right.
I slammed my locker door shut and pulled her by the elbow and took her into a small storage room.
"Okay you can't say anything alright; I need your help for something."
Avery nodded her head and I began the story of Daniel and his little game.
"What a jerk! I'm going to have a serious talk with him when I get home!" she said more than angry at him and their stupid idea of a game.
"No! You said you wouldn't say anything!" I said shaking my head vigorously.
She glared and paced a little in the small contained room.
"Fine, what's your plan?"
I smiled deviously. Avery gave me a weird and was more than a little creeped out.
"Well, I need you to do me a favor?" I say leaning in eagerly, Avery backed away suspiciously.
"Depends on what kind of favor?"
"Can you please steal Daniels camera and replace it with an identical one so he won't notice its missing?" I pleaded.
Avery frowned; she looked like she was torn between her loyalty for me or her brother. So I reminded her the reason why we were doing this.
"Why do you need Daniels camera for?"
"Well, I was planning on prom night to make a little slide show for the whole school, and thus will destroy his very reputation he so carefully built." I said grinning slightly wildly; I think I was going crazy.
"Well, okay fine." She said sighing and slumping forward, knowing she was defeated.
"Okay lets ditch and head to your house, nows the perfect timing."
"Um, I'm scared" whispered Avery. I sighed and rolled my eyes. We were about to open Daniels door and Avery was quivering behind me. Nobody was even home and the house was still as a rock. The only thing that got her paranoid was the sounds of cars honking outside. I slowly opened the door, cringing a little when the door squeaked a little too much. I opened it wider and dragged Avery by the elbow inside. Daniel had surprisingly neat room, except for maybe a few scattered clothes here and there.
"Come, on Avery it has to be here!" I shouted. Avery just stood there frozen in the same spot.
"Avery?" I said suspiciously.
