Sable winced as she lowered herself to her hands and knees as she began to draw with a stick a summoning circle in the loose dirt. You watched her from a distance with your hands folded in front of you, feeling out of place.

She grunted as she continued to drag the stick through the dirt, drawing a symbol in the center of the circle. You glanced behind you and to your sides, keeping an eye out for any of the other survivors, per Sables request. Sable had taken you to a deep part of the woods which surrounded the main campfire for survivors, swearing that no one knew of its location.

"Why must we keep this secret?" You whispered, wrapping your arms around your waist.

Sable stood to her feet with a slight smile as she stared at her work below, satisfied.

"I told you, he's unpredictable. Do you want to be held responsible if this goes south? I sure don't." She replied as she continue to stare at the ground.

Sable then turned behind her to look at you, waving her hand towards herself.

"Come, give me your hand. We should move quickly."

You walked over to Sable with your hand outstretched towards her. She withdrew a sharp object that looked like an old piece of glass bottle. Sable took your hand in her own and turned it so your palm was facing up. She lifted her eyes to your own, unable to hide her concern.

"We will place our hands down in the center after I have cut my own. Do not speak to him unless spoken to or addressed, let me do all the work."

Sable squeezed your hand gently as she held it from underneath.

"We're gonna get out of here." She whispered, hope filling her eyes.

You nodded once before Sable cut your palm with the glass bottle, drawing a line of blood. You winced and she quickly cut her own, sucking in air through her teeth. Sable turned to kneel down on the outer part of the seal, you following her direction. She then turned her head to the side to eye you before turning to place her hand in the very center of the symbol. You did the same and suddenly felt foolish as you both knelt on the dirt with your palms on the seal.

What am I doing? This is so stupid...

Suddenly, Sable began to mutter incantations under her breath, her eyes clamped shut. You watched her with a mix of wonder and fear from the ease at which the unintelligible language poured from her lips.

There was an ominous green glowing light that began to fill in the lines of the seal and outer circle, illuminating your face and arms. You yelped and went to remove your hand before feeling Sable place her other hand on top of yours, holding it down.

"No, don't. Hold it..." She said with her eyes still closed, her white hair green from the reflecting light.

Your hand began to burn and you clenched your teeth, doing everything you could to not fall backwards. The light became more steady and bright as Sable continued to mumble before a loud vacuum like sound blasted in the center of the circle, causing the seals glowing light to pulsate at a steady pace.

Sable slowly opened her eyes and tapped your hand signaling it was okay to remove it. You both leaned back as you remained knelt, your eyes squinting from the unnatural light in the very dark woods. You blinked as you stare across the seal, the faint silhouette of trees the only thing your squinting eyes could see.
