I walk back to the room that I share with Juliette and the twins. When I open the door, I'm greeted with a hug that leaves little room to breathe. "Oh, thank God you're alright," Juliette says, her voice quiet. Her panicked thoughts make me feel a twinge of guilt. I feel bad for making her worry so much. I don't know why she would worry. This place has people almost everywhere. Watching. Listening.
"Juliette," I laugh softly as I say her name. "I'm perfectly fine. What made you worry so much?"
"Well, I can tell that being here is kinda hard for you. As much as I thought it sucked, I saw how much you liked the fancy life," she tells me and I'm glad that she semi-understands how I feel. Just as long as she doesn't know about me and Aaron.
"And I'm really sorry I took you away from something you enjoyed. I just..." Juliette trails off before continuing, "I couldn't stand being here, where it's safe, knowing that you'd be stuck there with Warner." She doesn't try to mask her disgust when she mentions Aaron. I cover my sadness with a smile.
Juliette is my best friend. Aaron is the man that I love. I wish Juliette could at least try to tolerate Warner– like Kenji said he would. "I'm alright, Juliette," I tell her. "I was just talking to Kenji." She nods with a smile.
I take a small amount of time to look at Juliette's suit. It's the same as mine, but purple.
Mental note: Make sure to ask if there are other clothes we can wear. As cute as the suits are, I miss being able to put together my own outfits.
"I was about to go and see Adam," Juliette tells me. "Join me?" I nod and take her glove- sheathed hand in mine before running down the hallway to the medical wing.

Juliette and I sit in the dim room beside Adam and wait for him to wake up. The room is big, filled with tons of hospital beds and equipment. What if Aaron is in the hospital? What if the bullet that I didn't want to fire hit him near his heart and now he's fighting for his life? What if he was fighting for his life but the bullet from the gun that I pulled the trigger of killed him? Or he's perfectly fine and I'm overthinking the whole situation. Or he's dead.
Please, let Aaron be alright. Please tell me he is alive and healthy. Please tell me that he knows how sorry I am.
Please tell me that he will forgive me.
The rhythmic foot-tapping rips me from my thoughts. I turn my head to look at Juliette– leaning forward in her chair, both hands on Adam's own. I reach my hand out and put it on her shoulder. It's alright, my eyes tell her. She smiles at me but quickly turns her head when she feels Adam softly squeezing her hand.
His eyes slowly flutter open and I have to physically restrain Juliette from attacking Adam with hugs and kisses. When she finally calms down a bit, I release my grip on her and she shoots up. She quickly-but-carefully wraps her arms around his neck and squeezes him. Adam– whose arm movement is limited due to the machine he is attached to– tries his best to hug Juliette back.
Juliette's fingers trace Adam's forearm. "You can't even see where you were cut," Juliette says, bewildered. I don't listen to the rest of their quick conversation, trying to give them the most privacy possible.
"Hey, Sophia," Adam smiles at me. I walk closer to him and give him a small, gentle hug.
"How are you feeling?" I ask him when I pull back. "Pretty shitty," he responds. "Still groggy."
I smile, "It'll probably wear off soon." He gives me a small smile.
I take a few steps back and let Juliette and Adam have their conversation. They talk for a while, which leaves me with my thoughts for a while. I retreat back to where my mind was a few minutes ago. Aaron. Please, let him be alright. Please tell me that I didn't hurt him.
My head shoots up when I hear Juliette mention Warner. Thankfully, neither her or Adam notice.
"Adam?" Juliette says.
I wait for Juliette to continue.
"I don't think he's dead."
