I - person narrative
Today Horace had woken up looking rushed, the children, myself included, saw him eat a peace of toast Olive had burned and not even blink an eye.
The same Horace that would not accept a spoon of over fried egg,not giving attention to burned bread gave away that he was not present psychically, thinking about anything but the world he was in.
At the question 'What is wrong?' he would either shift in his chair and look anywhere but at the rest of us or just give the enquirer a stare for a few second and return to now his third piece of toast.
"The fuck is wrong with that one?" Enoch asked, leaning towards my ear.
"Not to say I'm a specialist in what's he has going on but I think he had a bad dream." I told him, letting go of my work and pushing him away to his own space.
"When does he not? Almost al of his dreams have something to cry about." He scoffed, taking another bite of his food.
As soon as all the children were done eating, they al got up leaving Olive and Horace to do they chores and clean up both the table and the kitchen while al the others went on to do their own chores.
Fiona and I were in the outside part of the garden,in her book she found a hybrid of the dahlia flower she really wanted to grow. Since our chore for the day was only cleaning the garden which was already as clean as a garden can be,we decided to try and grow one named 'karma choc'.
"Just look at how pretty it is!" Fiona kept glaring at the flower, too scared to cut it from its stem.
The karma choc was a darker flower with aa almost black middle but on the outer parts it was this beautiful dark, bloody red."I actually like this one too." I have the flower an approving look while shaking dirt off of my dress and getting the small secateurs that were near by,in order to cut the flower.
Fiona looked up at me,giving me a smile,"You can take this one,it reminds me of you somehow."
"Really?", I asked, cutting it and the dahlia in my hand, "Thank you,Fi."
"Yeah,Yeah, I'm going to feed the chickens now,I completely forgot I'm supposed to do that." She laughed, getting up and making her way to the coop with her book tucked between her arm and torso.
