Vikram woke up to a gentle warmth beside him. He turned to see Kanak snuggled up against him, her arms wrapped tightly around his waist. He smiled, recalling the moment in the middle of the night when she had reached out and taken his hand. He had been awake, but he had pretended to sleep, not wanting to break the spell of the moment.

As he gently extricated himself from Kanak's hug, he felt a sense of joy and hope that he hadn't felt in a long time. He got out of bed and began to cook breakfast for Kanak, the sizzle of the pan and the aroma of freshly brewed tea filling the air. He couldn't wait to see her smile when he presented her with a steaming hot cup of te and a plate of her favorite breakfast...

Kanak's eyes sparkled with delight as she tried on the earrings and admired herself in a mirror.
