Sneaking into the staff bathroom of Rosauers wasn't a challenge considering Leon did this every couple of months because he lied to Ada about his hair turning darker naturally. And if she ever found dark streaks in the sink or cardboard boxes with bombshell black haired women in the apartment, their unnamed relationship would be as good as dirt. Or shit. Depending on what left those streaks.

Now, he stood over a sink after barricading the push door to avoid interruptions. An android's hands plastered his hair with black matter. Leon wasn't exactly thrilled about the arrangement. Connor had insisted he help with the process and Leon not so stubbornly caved as he figured calm Android hands would make the job more neater than his gross, nasty, depressed PTSD shaky hands.

"Hank says that kids call this type of stuff skibidi."

"What the fuck is a skibidi?"

"Weren't you an Ipad kid?"

"Yeah, but I only played Roblox until my family was massacred and I moved from orphanage to orphanage."

"That does not seem to be skibidi."

"And this dick Brian stole my Ipad and farted on my face."

Connor paused as he looked at Leon's reflection in the mirror. A broken man. With surprisingly soft hair. He ran his fingers over Leon's scalp noticing how he stilled at the motions.

He remembers Hank's small comments about his silver hair. How he sometimes looked in the mirror and missed the blond. That was probably why he wanted to do this. To practice in case he needed to do an emergency makeover for the old man. Or give him a shock when he woke in the morning with a new appearance. And Leon was perfect practice.

This felt weird for Leon. He hadn't ever let another person do this for him. Hadn't let anyone get close to him like this except for Ada. That must have been why the hairs on his neck rose when he felt Connor's breath ghosted over his skin. Or maybe it was the heat that radiated off tentative hands warming his cold exterior. How could Androids breathe? How could an Android's breath smell good?

"I'm sorry." Connor spoke, his voice a solid in the turbulence of Leon's life.

"For what? The pink eye or the stolen Ipad?"

"No. I'm sorry that the back of your neck is black."

Leon choked on air.

"What?"

"Stained. Sorry."

"WHAT?"

"It's my first time doing this."

"You're a fucking robot. Shouldn't this be easy for you?"

"Legally and socially I am your equal and considered a person. Not a robot." Connor spoke, pulling latex gloves off his hands with a snap, dropping it into the trash. His voice was calm, constant. It was Leon's voice that was bothered when he responded through a glare.

"Right. That's why you act like us? That's why you pretend to be human, right? So you can get away with shit?" He pulled "apple juice" seemingly out of thin air, washing down the sourness that rose in his throat.

"Agent Kennedy, I don't know why you harbor these feelings towards androids. I don't know what happened to you." Connor knew this was about more than just hair dye. Something beyond him, even. It was written all over Leon since the day they met. Emotions or memories hiding under the surface, bubbling up, and boiling over after every conversation or look exchanged between the two.

"I can't work with you."

"Why not? Why won't you work with androids?"

"Because androids killed my grandma, okay?!"
