Ivy May:
Ivy May became a mom at 16. Yeah, she knows that it was young but it's not like it was planned. She was being a stupid teenager and ended up pregnant. The day she told people she was pregnant she saw people's true colours. Her parents, friends, her boyfriend.
Her parents were disappointed in her for getting pregnant, as expected. They told her to abort it cause she was young but she didn't want to. Her boyfriend told her the same thing, and his parents. And her friends. Everyone was against her. She lost everyone that day. Her boyfriend told her to get rid of the baby or he wasn't staying with her. He refused. Her friends told her they didn't want to be friends with someone who had a baby because she "basically would never be free to hang out anymore" and then they stopped talking to her.
Her parents never helped her. They let her stay in the house until she graduated high school but after that, they kicked her out so she worked every minute of every day to provide for herself and her daughter. It was pretty much just her and her daughter until about 5 years ago when she met Beth, Annie, and Ruby.
She met Ruby first because she and Cathrine, her daughter, would go into the diner Ruby worked at every chance Ivy could take Cathrine there. They ended up going so much that they became regulars there that Ruby started to recognize and she eventually ended up meeting Beth and Annie.
They ended up helping her out with money, more Beth and Ruby than Annie cause Annie was in the boat with money as she was, Ivy tried to decline the money but they kept insisting until she took it which she was more than grateful for. She'd found her family. She'd do anything for them. Including robbing a store and getting involved with a gang. The four of them took the saying "partners in crime" a little too far.
(Just an FYI, in season 1 Ivy is 29 and Cathrine, her daughter, is 14)
