It was two in the morning when I woke up Nan and Pops had left yesterday saying that they got invited by their senior friends to go to a spa with them. They'll be back in two days. I couldn't sleep properly. It was as if I was hearing voices in my head. I groggily got up and started to walk to the washroom. As I walked, it was almost like I could hear footsteps behind me. But I figured I was probably just too tired to think about it.
The floors creaked as I walked down the empty hallway. Once I reached the bathroom door, I turned the cold doorknob and went inside. Turning the light on, I looked at myself in the mirror. I splashed some water on my sleepy face to try and wake up. Using a fluffy grey towel I wiped my face off and looked back at the mirror, but this time, something else was there beside me… someone else. Now, like any normal person would, I screamed. Because who wouldn't scream when they see their dead classmate standing beside you in your bathroom?
I immediately ran out of the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind me. I quickly escaped to my bedroom and shut the door, locking it. Breathing heavily, I panicked.
“What the- am I going crazy..?”
I asked myself, over and over again. It felt like a good hour before I finally gathered up the courage to open my door. Cracking it open, I looked down the hall. Nothing.
“Guess I was imagining it-” I tried to say before immediately getting cut off.
“Can you see me?” A voice asked from behind me. Their voice had a slight echo to it and sounded way too familiar.
Turning around, I saw my former classmate Taisho Minumaki, standing behind me. I think I've finally lost it. “...I'm in a horror movie, aren't I?”
“S-so you can see me?” Minumaki asked.
I nodded my head hesitantly while I took in his appearance. His entire body was see through and had a blue hew to it. His normally tidy and tamed black hair was a mess, and he had this terrified look in his once calm and warm hazel eyes. But the moment I said I could see him, his body relaxed, just a bit.
“Good… now what did you do to me?” He asked, his voice bounced against the walls for a tad bit too long to be natural, and his face had scrunched up into an interrogation-like expression. He was acting like a detective that just found a major suspect.
“Wait, you think I did that to you?” I asked, my voice was laced with hesitation and slight anxiety. I didn't have any way to turn him into… whatever this was.
Minumaki nodded his head, a stern expression on his usually cheerful face. “You must have, you're the only one who can see me!” He exclaimed.
“I don't even have a quirk, how could I have done this to you?” I couldn't do anything to help him, I had nothing.
“I don't know, but you need to fix it. Get me back to my body! Which hospital am I in? My body is in a coma, right? I've read enough fanfiction to know that my soul and body have been separated. And I know that I need to somehow get myself back to my body to fix it.”
Wait, what? He… he doesn't know… the room had become eerily silent as I stared at him with a saddened expression. My eyes showed it all. I was feeling pity.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that? I know I'm basically a spirit and all but-” Suddenly, a look of realization had spread to his face. His eyebrows furrowed and I could practically see the gears turning in his head. His realization soon turned to absolute terror. It seems he had only now figured it out.
“...I'm dead… aren't I?”
