Shanvi woke up every day to a new surprise.
One day, her room would be decorated with flowers, the next, chocolates would be neatly placed by her bedside. Sometimes, it would be something else.
She never thought Khoon would do these things, especially after she confessed to being the reason for Maaz's death. No matter how much she hated it, Khoon kept showering her with affection, as if he didn't care about her resentment.
Every morning, she found a handwritten note along with a fresh rose beside her bed. She didn't care much—until one day, there was nothing. No note, no rose.
It felt strange. She hadn't realized how much she had grown used to waking up to the scent of rose. She even found herself liking roses more than she ever thought she would.
She took a deep breath and muttered, "Finally! He stopped this nonsense."
She got up, freshened up, and went to the dining table for breakfast. There was no sign of Khoon. She ate in peace, enjoying the quiet. But a small part of her wondered where he was.
As the day went on, her mind kept drifting to Khoon. She thought about how he is always laughing around her, always smiling, which she found creepy. Still, she couldn't help but wonder how he managed to stay that way.
The day passed as she wandered through the mansion and the garden. When dinner came, she ate alone again and felt a strange mix of relief and unease.
Later, as she lay in bed, trying to sleep, her mind kept circling back to Khoon.
Suddenly, loud noises shattered the silence of the night. She immediately recognized the sounds—Khoon was beating someone again. It happened so often that she had gotten used to it.
She rushed to the window and looked outside. There he was, standing in the garden, his fists landing heavy blows on a man who lay on the ground, bloodied and helpless. Around them, Khoon's men stood in silence, watching the scene without a word.
Her heart started pounding. Before she could stop herself, she rushed downstairs, anger taking over.
"Why are you always hurting people?" she shouted, pushing Khoon with all her strength. Caught off guard, he stumbled backward, nearly losing his balance. His eyes flashed with surprise and a hint of anger, but she didn't care.
She hurried to the man on the ground, who was bleeding badly. The men around them stared at her, stunned by her boldness.
Before Shanvi could reach the man on the ground, Khoon grabbed her arm with such force that she stumbled, her face colliding against his chest.
"Go inside," Khoon said sharply, letting out an angry chuckle as his nostrils flared.
"Aaah!" she cried out as pain shot through her leg, which twisted awkwardly from his sudden pull.
Khoon froze, looking momentarily confused.
Shanvi dropped to the ground, clutching her leg as tears streamed down her face. The pain was unbearable.
"I have told you to stay away from my matters," Khoon said, his tone softening as he crouched down to pick her up.
Without another word, he lifted her in his arms and carried her inside the mansion. "Take him to the basement," he ordered his men before disappearing through the door.
In her room, Khoon gently placed her on the bed. He grabbed an ointment from a nearby table and sat by her side, carefully examining her foot. He blew on it lightly before applying the ointment with a surprising gentleness.
