When she opened her eyes, the sterile white of the hospital room greeted her. The soft beeping of machines and muffled whispers filled the air. Her family stood around her bed, their faces pale, tears staining their cheeks.
"Maa..." Shanvi's voice broke as she croaked out the word, fresh tears pooling in her eyes. "Hafid... he's... he's gone..."
Her mother grasped her hand tightly, her own voice trembling. "Shanvi, beta, please calm down."
"No!" Shanvi cried, her voice rising in anguish. "I can't! I don't want to! Maa, what's the point of living without him? There's nothing left for me!"
"Shanvi, stop it!" her father's voice boomed, his rare display of anger silencing the room.
"How dare you say that? Do you think Hafid would want this? For you to give up?"Shanvi shook her head, her sobs growing louder. "I don't care! I don't want to live, Papa! I don't want to!"
Her mother cupped Shanvi's face, forcing her to look into her tear-filled eyes. "Shanvi, listen to me. You can't think like this. You must live!"
"What for?" Shanvi whispered, her voice breaking. "He's gone. There's nothing left for me. I made him suffer so much. Let me go... let me go to him..."
Her mother's grip tightened, her voice firm yet filled with love. "You're wrong, Shanvi. There is something-someone-you need to live for."
Shanvi's tear-streaked face froze in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Her brother, Shiv standing silently by her bedside, stepped forward. His eyes were red, but his voice was steady. "You're pregnant, Shanvi."
Shanvi's breath hitched. "No... no, that's not possible..."
Her father placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "It is, Shanvi. The doctors confirmed it. You're carrying Hafid's child."
The world seemed to stop. Her trembling hand instinctively moved to her stomach as fresh tears spilled from her eyes. "His... child?" she whispered.
Her mother nodded, brushing Shanvi's hair back lovingly. "Yes, beta. A piece of Hafid still lives within you. This child needs you. Hafid's child needs you."
Her brother knelt by her bedside, holding her other hand tightly. "Shanvi, you're not alone. This baby is Hafid's legacy. You have to live for them, for him."
Shanvi's tears fell freely now, her heart torn between grief and the faintest flicker of hope. "How will I do this?"
Her mother's voice softened, but her resolve didn't waver. "You will do this because you're strong, Shanvi. You've always been strong. And we'll be with you every step of the way."
Shanvi let out a shuddering sob, her fingers clutching her abdomen. "I'll try," she whispered, her voice fragile. "For him. For this baby."
Her family surrounded her, their warmth and love a shield against the storm in her heart. Her mother kissed her forehead, whispering, "That's my brave girl. You're going to be an amazing mother."
