between the baskets

I'm so excited yet so nervous. Today's game day for the Ebonwood High Panthers. My first friday home game. I always thought they had cheerleading for games like these but this is hiphop. This can get me somewhere in the future.

I start getting out of my bed and open my window. I look outside, the sun shining on my face feels like today will be one of many good days. Hopefully. I go change into the dance uniform. The uniform includes black baggy jeans, white sneakers, with the basketball team's jerseys deep grey coloured, mine with number 6, and a white long sleeve underneath. I go braid the front bits of my hair like Jessica Alba in Honey. Easy hairstyle but still cute and add some gold hoop earrings.

I go downstairs into the kitchen. Rune and Lucy are already up for school sitting at the dining table. Rune is Braiding Lucy's hair because Lucy's hair is the most thickets out of the three of us, it's actually surprising.

"What do you girls want for breakfast?" I ask.

"Cereal for me please" Rune answers. "Toast for me! please" Lucy pleads.

I check in the pantry and grab the cereal out with the bowl. I go to the fridge to add milk but realise it's empty. Crap. Dad hasn't gone shopping. He never does it's usually me. I check the pantry for bread and  it's out of date. "Is eggs okay instead?" I ask.

"Yeah that's okay" Rune replies."I'll go to the store after school" She adds. Rune has her own job and it helps us out a lot. She works at the bookstore once or twice a week and she has never saved her money since she got the job. She uses it to keep us living.

A few minutes later I grab my school bag and walk out of the house. Rune and Lucy wave goodbye as we go opposite ways. I go and wait at the bus stop while listening to jenny from the block - bronx remix.

I arrive at school at 8:56am and head to first class. We don't have to be at the game until 12:30. the game starts at 1:00. So all the teachers expect us to go to our classes beforehand.

I enter my dance class and see Fame and Victoria in the dance crew uniform too. The number Victoria got was 12 and Fame got number 3. While I was approaching them their faces had a worried expression. I stare back and pull a confused face. Did I forget something? "Why are you guys looking at me like that?".

"Amanda might be a tad pissed at you if she's sees you" Victoria nodded her head in agreement.

"What do you mean?" I'm genuinely confused. Why would she mad if we are wearing the same uniform.

"Your number" Victoria points to my jersey.

"So, it's a number what's so special about number 6?" Is she mad because was it her number she originally had? If that's the case It's not like I chose number 6 I got given it.

"Number 6 on the basketball team is Easton Rhodes Number...Amanda's boyfriend" Fame explains. Theres no way i'm matching with Easton. I'm not even worrying about Amanda. I dont want this number anymore.

"You're kidding" I laugh and laugh. Fame and Victoria just watch me, confusion written all over their faces. "Look, Amanda needs to grow up it's a number, I'll rub it in her face if I have to" I say.

Victoria laughs before Fame. Fame joins in and eventually we all start laughing together. "I'd pay to watch that" Victoria chuckles. Fame holds her hand up in agreement.

The rest of the dance class was just explaining on how the game day is going to run and the time schedules. We dance our routine at halftime and we get front row seats because we are apart of the dance academy.
