It was a typical lunchtime at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the Great Hall buzzed with the usual din of students chatting, laughing, and clinking their cutlery. The four long house tables were lined with students enjoying their meals, the scent of roasted meats, and freshly baked bread filling the air. The Gryffindor table was particularly lively, with Fred and George Weasley sitting together, plotting their next prank and swapping stories of their latest mischievous exploits. They were in high spirits, as usual, but today, their attention was drawn elsewhere.
At the Slytherin table, Dazai Osamu, a quiet and enigmatic first-year, sat somewhat apart from his housemates. His sharp brown eyes, usually keen and observant, seemed unfocused today. His fingers hovered over the pages of a book he was clearly not reading, a far-off expression clouding his usually composed face. To anyone who knew him, it was immediately obvious that something was different about him today. His usual calm detachment was gone, replaced by an unsettling stillness.
Fred and George had been keeping an eye on Dazai for a while. They had watched him over the past few weeks as he effortlessly outwitted bullies, got under the skin of older students with his sharp words, and even managed to impress some of the professors with his intellect. His cold, calculated confidence had fascinated the twins. But now, something was off. His usual demeanor was replaced with an almost childlike vulnerability that neither of them had seen before.
"Look at him," Fred muttered, nudging George. "Dazai's gone quiet. Too quiet."
George glanced over at the Slytherin table, his eyes narrowing in concern. "Yeah, and he's not even reading. That's his favorite thing, isn't it?"
Fred frowned. "Yeah, it is. Something's up."
The twins exchanged a brief, wordless glance. Despite their usual carefree attitude, they couldn't shake the nagging feeling that something was wrong. They had seen Dazai in action-his sharp mind and sharp tongue made him nearly untouchable, and they had a certain respect for his ability to handle himself in almost any situation. But now, the kid who always had a plan, who always seemed in control, looked small and lost. And that worried them more than they expected.
Without further discussion, the twins stood up, their identical expressions of concern exchanged only for a moment before they began to make their way toward the Slytherin table. The other students watched curiously as the Weasley twins, known for their practical jokes and mischievous nature, walked purposefully toward Dazai.
"Oi, Dazai," George called out lightly, trying to keep his tone casual, though there was a hint of worry in his voice. "What's up, mate? You're looking a bit out of sorts."
Dazai blinked, his expression blank as he turned his head to face them. For a moment, his eyes seemed distant, as though he didn't quite register who was speaking to him. Then, as if something inside him shifted, his face softened in a way that none of them had ever seen before. His lips trembled slightly, his brown eyes welling up with unshed tears. The transformation was almost instantaneous, and Fred and George froze, completely taken aback by the change in the boy.
