Kian helped Maan sit on a bench in front of Naina's office and walked out from there, after a kiss on his temple.
Maan sighed as he saw his father's retreating figure as Kian disappeared behind the wall with long strides. Maan did not know what Kian was tensed like never before. He initially thought his injuries to be the reason behind Kian's worries. He looked down at his hands as he patiently waited for her to show up.
He looked up as soft footsteps were heard. She halted in her tracks with heavy breaths as she looked at the boy sitting on the bench.
Maan did not have any energy left in him to get up. He looked at her tiredly. She blinked hard to send back the unshed tears and took a few steps towards him.He was taken aback when she kneeled down in front of him and looked at his face with wide glossy eyes.
"Armaan!" She whispered.
Maan gave a weak smile and blinked at her. He looked in her eyes and was lost for a moment. The feeling of having her so close was so new and raw that he found himself unprepared. he wanted to touch that creamy face. His fingers twitched.
She too, could not decide on what she was supposed to do. She so wanted to hold him close and never let him go. But the boy in front of her was not a baby. He was a teen. She did not know if would appreciate a physical touch. She sucked in a sharp breath and Maan blinked uneasily."Why are you sitting here? Come, lets go in." She said, to start a conversation.
Maan nodded and tried to get, only to feel slightly dizzy. He did not show it and tried to gain control over his body as he walked behind her in her office. She pushed opened the door and held it wide open to let him enter. He did not wait for her permission and sat down on a chair. He had a paper bag with him which he kept on the table.
She too, pulled up a visitor chair and sat opposite to him.
"How are you now?" She asked, twisting and clasping her fingers.
Maan gulped. He did not expect her to talk formally. He was impatiently waiting for her to acknowledge their new found relationship. He wantedher to accept him and say that she wanted to come where he was staying with his father.
"I would be better once I go back home." He replied in a whisper, making her hold his gaze for a brief moment.
She cleared her throat as she looked away.
"I did not know... I was not aware of you all these years." She whispered ashamed of herself.
A small smile crept on his lips. She was finally addressing the elephant in the room. She looked up when he did not respond. He wanted her to say more.
"That was not your fault, I know." He replied when she was lost for words, making her feel guilty then ever more.
"It was not... but... I want to make everything right for you and me." She said.
Maan leaned back on the chair and looked at her with lazy eyes. It was getting difficult for him to keep awake for any longer. The medicine was kicking in and he needed to rest. But he pushed himself harder to complete the conversation. he would be able to sleep peacefully when he would hear from her what he wanted to hear.
"I lost a lot with you, Armaan. We both lost a lot with each other." She said.
Something did not sit right with her words. Maan furrowed his brows lightly.
"I am sure, he told you about..." she added unsure.
Maan waited for her to continue, but she just looked at him. She was sure, that Kian sent him after telling him about their arguement.
