RICK HAD CALLED A MEETING THE NEXT DAY AND EVERYONE SAT around in the courtyard, waiting for Rick to begin his speech. Nina sat down on the picnic table next to Carl, holding her niece in her arms.
"When I met with the Governor, he offered me a deal," Rick began. "He said... he said he would leave us alone if I gave him Michonne. And I was gonna do that, to keep us safe. And I changed my mind, but now Merle took Michonne to fulfill the deal and Daryl went to stop him and I don't know if it's too late. I was wrong not to tell you, and I'm sorry. What I said last year, the first night after the farm, it can't be like that. It can't. What we do, what we're willing to do, who we are. It's not my call. It can't be. I couldn't sacrifice one of us for the greater good, because we are the greater good. We're the reason we're still here, not me. This is life and death. How you live, how you die... it isn't up to me. I'm not your Governor. We choose to go. We stick to stay. We stick together. We vote. We can stay and we can fight, or we can go."
After his speech, Rick didn't linger and walked off, deciding to give the group the chance to process his words. Nina sighed and looked at the others, noticing them slightly communicating with their eyes. She looked over at the watchtower, seeing Rick standing alone in it. The brunette stood up, handing Judith over to Carl before following after him.
Nina reached the watchtower and climbed up, opening the door as Rick turned to look at her, "That was a good speech.*
"You think?" Rick asked.
"Yeah," Nina replied, leaning against the railing. "It's good that you're letting them choose on their own."
"I don't want to be the one to make decisions for them anymore," Rick admitted.
"That's good," Nina replied. "I guess you've finally gotten over your Ricktatorship."
"Ricktatorship?" Rick repeated.
Nina smiled and chuckled, "Yeah, that's what Carl's been calling it," she sighed. "I'm glad you're doing better. I was worried about you and Glenn was enraged at the Governor, causing him to make the dumbest decisions."
Rick laughed, looking down at his sister, "Did he ask you yet?"
"Yeah," Nina replied, lifting up her hand and allowing her brother to look at the ring.
"He was nervous to ask for my blessing," Rick told her.
Nina smiled, "Doesn't surprise me."
The two siblings stood together in silence for a moment before they saw movement in the tree line and Rick lifted the scope up to his eye as Nina looked at him, "What is it?"
