John agreed. He was happy that he didn't have to drive his Toyota through any more of that deep snow. I took a deep breath and tossed him my keys, hoping he was going to scratch it because I have been looking at a new one that I really wanted.

Sporadically, I dream of it. Day and night. I imagine driving that side by side. I can just imagine it, just sitting here. The Compass Green paint. It is a 2025 Defender DPS Cab with a Rancher Front Bumper, and a bed toolbox, it even has the front deluxe full doors with tinted glass.

Also comes with things on the inside. Literally, it even has a cargo bed winch. The winch is a Can-Am HD 4500. The lighting situation is that it has a dome light, and LED signature lights. That is what there is for lights on it. It even comes with a super duty plow kit with a plow blade with extensions. That isn't all that it comes with. It also has a Can-Am audio roof flip kit, an Apache Backcountry LT Track System. To have those they had to add a super duty plow push frame extension, a CVT air intake pre-filter, Apache Backcountry Mounting Kit, a different front bumper, and a track DPS module.

It even comes with wiper and power windows cable, a flip glass windshield, and a windshield wiper and washer kit. That side by side goes for $40,665.85. It would be really handy for some jobs that I do.

When we left the coffee shop, I followed John, who was driving my side by side, so he wouldn't get hit by somebody else coming from behind. We were doing good almost at our first job of the day, when all of a sudden, expeditiously, and swiftly a car came around the corner followed by multiple cop cruisers. The car surprised us. John could tell that they couldn't catch the guy.

Out of nowhere, John pulled in front of the oncoming car. The guy driving the car tried to avoid John, but there was no possible way that he could miss him. The car struck John head on. The side by side was smashed with so much force that he was flung out through the windshield and onto the street. The car and the side by side were totaled. At that moment, I didn't care how bad the side by side was. The first thing I did was block traffic and turn my emergency light bar on.

Once that was done, I put my parking brake on. Now that I knew the truck wasn't going anywhere, I got out and ran to John. When I reached him, there was a faint smell of gasoline. I looked over at the car, and was shocked at what I was seeing. The cops that were in the chase had the guy driving the car at gunpoint. Then I looked down at the side by side and said the worst thing about the accident. The side by side was leaking gas from the gas tank and diesel from the tank in the back of it. I wasn't going to wait for the side by side to become a ticking time bomb.

At this moment, I yelled "The Side By Side Is Gonna Blow!!" I instantly grabbed John and dragged him to the side of my truck, not knowing what to do. I really didn't care what was going on. All I was worried about was John. The officers took care of the criminal and called in a fire engine to take care of the gas and diesel. As soon as the fire engine arrived, one of the officers came over to John and noticed he was very injured.

When I go to John laying face down on his stomach all scraped up. He looked like he was a rag doll. He kept saying that he was sorry, and that he would buy me a new one. I didn't care about that at the time. I was just in shock of what had happened. The leading officer that was in the chase, Officer Wolfe, walked up to me and told me to back up and give them some room. That hit my boiling point. I instantly started yelling. I yelled, if you die now, then you can't buy me that side by side. Not only that, but I was balling my eyes out. The reason I yelled that was because that is all he cared about. The paramedics asked if I wanted to ride in the ambulance to the hospital with him. I wanted to, but I knew I couldn't.

I told the paramedic that I will drive to the hospital when the mess is all cleaned up. He understood. I walked up to the officers when they had the guy in cuffs and in the back of their cop car, and asked them how I could help. There wasn't much I could do, said the cop. He did ask one thing though, why did John pull out in front of the car? I told him I didn't know why. To be honest I want to know myself.

I knew John's injuries were bad when they put him into the back of a police cruiser going Code 3 down the road towards the hospital. That crushed my heart. As the police cruiser with John rushed to the Hospital, an ambulance pulled up. Now, I knew it was really serious. They couldn't wait for him to be put into an ambulance. I walked over to the paramedic and told him that they just brought John to the Hospital in a police cruiser, but the criminal that made the accident happen is over there.

The paramedic then thanked me and ran over to the patrol cruiser with the criminal and checked him out, but lucky him he was alright, only with a couple of minor cuts and scrapes, unlike my best friend, since childhood. I was not happy about what that guy did to my best friend. He was an amazing person.
