The day of the Battle Trials arrived, and the atmosphere around UA was electric with excitement. Students buzzed with nervous energy as they prepared for the first major test of their abilities. Izumi stood alongside the rest of her class, listening as the heroes-in-training assembled on the large open battlefield behind the school.
Today wasn’t just another physical test. This was a simulation. A chance to demonstrate how well they could use their quirks under pressure, working with a partner to take down heroes who were out to stop them. The stakes were higher than ever.
Izumi stood a few feet from Uraraka Ochako, her assigned partner. The girl was bouncing on the balls of her feet, radiating her usual optimistic energy, though it was clear that even she was nervous.
“Alright, Izumi!” Uraraka grinned at her. “We’ve got this, right?”
Izumi gave a slight nod, her glowing purple eyes narrowing in focus. She hadn’t had much interaction with Uraraka up until now, but the footage from the entrance exam had shown the girl to be resourceful and quick. More importantly, she was a team player, something Izumi knew was crucial for success today.
"Let's just do our best," Izumi said, her voice low but firm. She had always operated alone, but today, she'd have to rely on someone else. The pressure of teaming up with Uraraka didn’t faze her, but she knew this would require a new level of coordination.
A loud voice broke through the air. All Might appeared in his usual dynamic fashion—grinning, his muscular frame towering over everyone as he stood in front of the entire class.
“GOOD MORNING, CLASS 1-A! ARE YOU READY TO SHOW YOUR STRENGTH?!” All Might’s booming voice echoed through the area. “Today, we will see how well you work together as heroes and villains! Each team has a distinct role—one will act as the villains, trying to protect a bomb, and the other as the heroes, trying to disarm it and bring them to justice!”
Izumi’s eyes flicked toward the makeshift bomb that was positioned in the center of the battlefield—a simple-looking device, but its presence symbolized everything: the challenge of the battle, the stakes of the trial.
“Your objective is clear: heroes, disarm the bomb. Villains, prevent them from doing so at all costs! Use your quirks as creatively as possible, but remember: safety is a priority!” All Might continued. “Good luck, students! And may the best team win!”
The teams were announced, and Izumi’s stomach twisted slightly when she heard her assignment.
Villains: Izumi Midoriya and Uraraka Ochako.
Heroes: Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Iida.
Izumi’s gaze flicked to Bakugo and Iida as they lined up on the other side. She could see Bakugo’s explosive energy, his hands already crackling with anticipation. Iida, on the other hand, stood at attention, his mechanical legs tense and ready for action.
As the teams took their places, Aizawa’s voice rang out from the side.
“BEGIN!”
The moment the match started, Izumi could feel the adrenaline surge through her. She immediately tapped into her Warp Blast ability, her body warping to the far side of the battlefield and positioning herself behind a large rock. The ground beneath her feet rumbled as she stabilized, using her sharp, blade-like appendages to grip the terrain.
Uraraka, as always, was quick on her feet. She activated her Zero Gravity quirk, causing a few rocks around her to float and move into place, making her appear less vulnerable. They were ready to begin.
Bakugo was the first to make a move, his feet propelling him forward with incredible speed, his gauntlets already igniting with explosive power. “Hah! You think you can beat me, you damn nerds?” His voice was a sharp bark of anger as he charged.
