Ties that bind us together

Naira carefully exited her room and slowly went to the other room. She knows only one person can help her in finding her daughter. She knocked on the door, waiting patiently for the person to open it. She didn't want to disturb that person in the middle of the night, but she had no other option. If her husband got to know what she was planning to do, he would tie her to the bed.

She knocked again when she didn't get a response. She was about to knock again when the said person opened the door and looked at her in confusion.

"Naira, aunty", said Abhi while yawning. He wiped his eyes to remove the trace of sleep from them. "All okay?"

Yes, Naira came here to get help from Abhimanyu. She quickly pushed Abhi inside and shut the door. "I need your help, Abhi", she told him. Abhi, who was lost in the dreams of a beautiful girl, suddenly got up.

"Everything okay?" he asked in concern. Naira handed him a glass of water. "Drink this; I need you to be properly awake before telling you about my problem", she demanded. She needs his full concentration right now. Abhi gulped the water in a go. He went to the washroom to keep himself up. Naira looked serious right now. He needs to be awake to handle the situation appropriately.

"What is it, Aunty?" he asked, wiping his face.

Naira sighed. "I want you to do a background check on Akshara". Abhi gawked her.

"Akshara as in?" he asked.

"Akshara, as in Shivu's doctor, as in the girl whom we all met today, as in the girl who came to the party", replied Naira. She wanted all the information about the girl.

"Aunty, you know that this is illegal. We cannot do anyone's background check without their permission. She is not a criminal, so we can do her background check. She is a civilian and a good doctor, too. We can go to jail if anyone knows about this" he wanted her to know the risks behind this background check. Naira is unaware of the new strict laws, which could not only lead her into trouble but could also put him into trouble. He could lose his job because of this.

"I know everything, Abhi. I know I can go to jail, and you can lose your job as well, but I have no option left. I want to know about that girl as soon as possible. I think she is my Akshi only", she whispered the last part.

Abhi sighed. He held her shoulders and looked at her. "It can be a coincidence, Aunty. They only share the same". Naira shook her head.

"No, trust me, Abhi. I have a gut feeling that she is my baby only. You know she is 24 years old. She has the same eyes as Kartik. Trust me, beta; she is my Akshi only", Naira replied confidently. There is not a single tear in her eyes, which shows Abhi that she is not talking emotionally right now. She is earnest. Every time Akshara's name surfaced, Naira was the first to shed tears, but right now, she is standing confidently before him, talking about her determination to find her daughter.

It is not tricky for Abhi to get the person's background check. Heck, he didn't need to tell someone about it. He is competent enough to do this. After working as an IPS officer for over 6 years, he knows how to hack into the system efficiently. There is no problem on that front. He can also circumvent the system so no one can detect that he is behind the illegal background check. Also, he has so much influence on the government that they will think 100 times before acting against him.

"I know Abhi; you can do her background check without anyone tracing you. This is not the first time you have done something illegal. I know everything about your secret life. So, why are you thinking so much about this?" Naira questioned him. She knows about the boy's capabilities. He never thinks twice before doing anything illegal, so what is happening to him now?
