"Are you sure you can't skip gym today?" I practically begged, "I really need help studying."

"Eli," Erica giggles, "you're doing better than I am in English. You don't need my help."

"Well, can you just skip anyways? It's not like you'll miss much!" I continued to whine, following Erica to the gym. Not so much as pausing as I continued to walk past my own class.

"Why are you insistent on me skipping class? Wasn't it just last week you were saying how we—and I quote—can't keep skipping class because it dims the light of our future?"

"Hey, I was proud of that." I pouted, blocking the door to the gym. "If you love me, you'll skip this class right now."

"Eli, you know I love you," Erica leaned in, whispering, "but people are coming so get out of the way!"

"Not until you say you'll skip with me."

"Do not use my social anxiety against me!" Erica continued to whisper, although it was harsh enough her minty breath hit my nose.

"Please skip, I promise you won't miss anything!"

Before she could continue to argue, "um, excuse me."

My eyes narrowed in on Scott McCall, then darting quickly to his lanky friend, Stiles. "Sorry, uh, just one second." I turned back to Erica, still blocking the entrance. "Erica, I will do anything if you just skip this one class, okay? I mean, when have I ever asked you to do this? Just this one time, please."

Before Erica could answer, the bell rung, signalling the beginning of class. "We really have to get in there." Scott added, scratching his head awkwardly.

I sighed, moving over, "sorry."

Before I could plead again, Erica slipped in to the gym. "I'll see you after class, El."

"Erica!" I tried, shouting over Scott and Stiles' shoulders as they entered the gym in tow with Erica. Dramatically, the gym door slammed in my face, leaving me with no view of the inside. But I didn't need to be there to know what was about to happen. "I'll just be here, I guess." I mumbled, huffing.

I didn't know if it would be today exactly. But Erica's hair was the same as my vision from last week; unruly blonde like she had just rolled out of bed. She had, but still. I decided to continue to skip my class, awaiting the moment Erica would inevitably need me.

Fifteen minutes of waiting when the ruckus finally occurred. I debated going in to the gym despite not being apart of the class. Maybe I could make up some excuse that I was asked to get someone? Or drop something off?

Before I could decide, an overwhelming light blinded me, making the decision for me. I stumbled into the gym, heading directly for the rock climbing wall set up in the middle. I couldn't see anything but Erica, who had already begun seizing halfway up the wall.

I desperately tried to snap out of my state, trying to eliminate the tunnel vision and speak up; be able to help Erica or call for someone who could. I cursed myself a thousand times over as I stood frozen, watching it all unfold.

As I always will; the curse I'll never break.

In an instant, Scott McCall is swooping in, Erica landing in his arms. It's only once he's set her on the ground, can I snap out of my state and continue on. I rush forwards, ignoring my blossoming migraine and instead placing my hand under Erica's head as I let her ride out the seizure. I'd been in his position before with Erica, usually foretelling her seizures before they happened. I'd never been able to stop them, though. No matter how far off course I took our day.
