You panted softly, pushing your damp hair back as you stopped jogging. You plopped down on the ground, pulling your knees up as you grabbed your water bottle and took a long sip. "Ah," you breathed out as the cool water soothed your overheated body. The sky was a hazy blue, the grey clouds wisping through the air. The sun peeked out from behind the buildings, but it had barely risen enough for the orange and yellow hue to seep into the dull blue above you.
"You're up early."
You dropped your head from the sky, finding a familiar tall, lanky man ahead of you. "Wanted to do some light jogging before and warm up before I started really pushing my body and quirk." You put your water bottle down and reached up to touch your hair. It was in a tight braid, but seemed to be fraying a bit.
"I see," he nodded. He watched as you checked on your hair, his own hands finding his messy curls and pulling them up into a small bun. "I'm going to get started."
"Actually, could I ask a favor?" The pebbles from the concrete dug into the heel of your hand as you pushed yourself onto your feet.
"Hm?" He glanced over.
"I was hoping we could do some combat training together. With your quirk, it'll be a challenge for me to adjust to using and not using my quirk and I can try that trick I mentioned yesterday."
The pro-hero seemed to think for a minute. "Sure," he met your gaze. "But my quirk isn't as stable as it used to be, and I'm less agile than before." He pointed at his eyepatch and lifted one of his pant legs to show off a shiny metal prosthetic.
You had heard about how Eraser had lost his eye and leg in the same battle; an attempt to get rid of his powerful quirk. But seeing the prosthetic up close tinged you with a bit of sadness. "Well, maybe it'll be good training for you too, then? Practicing using your quirk for longer periods of time may make it stronger, even if it's only one eye. And moving around on the leg could help you get used to it." You shrugged with a wobbly smile.
Eraser nodded slowly. "Maybe."
The two of you were already in an area cleared for training and combat, so you brushed off your clothes and took a step back. "Ready when you are, Eraser Head."
The man opened his eye, a bright red hue coloring his iris. You tried to activate your quirk and make yourself invisible, but the power wouldn't work. The light didn't respond to your commands. You huffed softly and pushed yourself off the ball of your feet, rushing at the hero at full speed.
Eraser grabbed his scarf, throwing it forward as he pushed off of one leg and dodged your incoming attack. The scarf started coming down around you, but a small grunt left his lips as he tried to balance on his prosthetic.
In that small moment, you ducked and threw yourself to the side. Your body buzzed with energy as you realized his quirk had deactivated. You let the light cover you, making you invisible to the naked eye. Aizawa pulled his scarf back to him, just about to reactivate his quirk. You moved in small, imperceptible movements until you were right behind him. The light condensed into a dagger-like shape and you grabbed the man from behind. You pressed the sharp, burning end of the light blade to his neck as he hissed.
"Not a good idea." He spoke right before his eye turned that deep red. Your body glitched back into view and the blade disappeared from your hand. Before you could move, he had flipped around, kicking you in the side. You almost flew off to the side, barely catching yourself on your feet.
Your side ached from the impact. "Can't rely on a quirk in a fight against you, huh?"
"You should've known that already." Aizawa wasn't one to give his opponents any time to recover, his scarf already outstretched to wrap around you.
