I look at my mail box and see a ton of work to be done by tomorrow. Everyone has a Sunday. Everyone, except me.
It's sunday and here I am rotting in my bed with my laptop while people my age are probably partying their souls out today.
I was working when I heard a familiar voice speak,
"Your working today also?"I looked up to find Riya scowling.
Shit. She gets to know I'm working on a Sunday again, I am dead meat. I already am anyways, because of the way she's looking at me right now.
" Y-yes?", I replied giving her a tight smile.
"Oh my god Kaira. When will you ever learn. You need to breath, let that heart of yours experience nice stuff other than a bunch of paperworks. Close that laptop for this one day and come out. You really need fresh air. I mean look at you with your face, feels like you haven't had a good day since ages"
Ok, mom Riya was coming into action now. Gotta be careful.
"I'm fine Ri, I just have to go through a few mails, that's it." I said reassuring her.
"No. I know what your definition of a few files is. None of your I'm fines or I have work, is going to work this time. I'm not leaving this place untill and unless you agree to come out with me this evening"
I looked at her with defeat.
"Please Kaira. Anika's also coming. It's going to be like the college friend group reunion."
My eyes quickly lit up.
Anika, Riya and me are best friends since college. Meeting Anika after ages and that too as a group made me feel elated. But I also couldn't leave work.
"But, what about work Ri?" I hesitated.
"Work can wait Kaira. Stop stressing yourself too much and listen to me. Your coming with us today evening at 6. Float brewery, 80 feet road. No excuses. Who knows, we could also find a fake boyfriend for you" She said grinning.
I quickly pulled her in asking her to keep her volume low so that dad wouldn't hear her.
"Okay okay I'll come, but just keep your voice down about the fake boyfriend thing."
"You'll come? Promise?" She asked cutely.
I rolled my eyes.
"Promise"
"Great then! Float brewery, 80 feet road. Remember! Love you, bye!" She said hurrying away.
"Riya wait!" I said pulling her sleeve to keep her from going away.
"Hm? What?" She said turning back.
"About the fake boyfriend thing. I have found one"
Her eyes widened and soon she was smiling like some stupid downtown idiot.
"Who?" She asked wiggling her eyebrows.
"Uhm.... " I said tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, "Akshay."
"What?" She blurted out.
She took two steps back and started pacing my room trying to believe me,
"Akshay?" She whispered still not believing what I said.
"Akshay." I nodded.
"Don't you hate him?"
"I do. I still do. But I had no other choice. I can't speak to you about it here, dad's right downstairs. I'll fill you guys up tonight, okay?" I whispered.
