My wrist healed and the amount of relief that flooded me was indescribable. I fell to the ground seeing her beautiful ruby-red eyes after almost being forced to come to terms with the fact I'd never see them again.

Kneeling, I was on the same level with her gorgeous face and couldn't wipe the relieved smile off of my lips. I leaned forward to place my forehead on hers and my hand reached out, taking hers in mine. She smiled delicately and closed her eyes, tilting her head up just enough to touch noses. I closed my eyes after her, allowing myself to release all the tension I've been holding and calm down.

"I love you," I whispered.

"I love you too," she responded hoarsely.

"I told you you'd be okay, Red." I squeezed her hand.

"I never doubted you," she said. I could hear the smile in her voice and it was beautiful.

"Uh, Draven? Who are they?" Gia spoke up, reminding me that she was still in the room. She startled Scarlett, who was clueless of her presence, and we leaned back, placing our gazes on the group standing at the entry of the room.

Great. I should've known they weren't going to stay put if they were anything like Scarlett, which means not only did Gia see what I just did, they also saw.

"Mom?" Scarlett released my hand and sat up, her voice full of emotions. I moved to my feet and stepped back.

I hope this doesn't overwhelm her.

Her mother started to cry again, but didn't move from her spot. She looked at me as if asking to approach her and I was a bit appalled. Does she think she's unworthy of the rights to love her daughter because she was forced to let her go? Does she still see her as a prisoner that needs permission to interact with?

Clearing my thoughts, I gave her the green light with a head tilt and watched her run over, embracing her in a tight, loving hug which she returned eagerly.

"I'm so sorry, Scar. I'm so, so sorry," her mother sobbed.

"It wasn't your fault. I killed him, Ma. Just like I said I would," Scarlett sniffled proudly. Her mother pulled back in astonishment and the other's standing by the door seemed just as bewildered by her confession.

"What? It was you?" She asked in disbelief, gradually turning toward me looking for validation.

"It's true," I confirmed, "she saved my life."

Upon hearing this, more shock consumed her and utter confusion formed across her face. She turned back to her daughter. "You killed the King for an Alpha werewolf? Have you lost your mind?"

My face fell.

"No," my mate giggled gently, the melodic sound soothed my nerves instantly and my wolf purred in content. At the mention of me, a smile sprawled on her freshly licked lips and her eyes lit up, all unbeknownst to her. "He's different," she muttered bashfully, her soft eyes instinctively searching for me. When our eyes met, her pupils dilated and her smile widened.

If only she could see she doesn't need words to express how she feels.

"He set me free a long time ago, Ma. I chose to come back and stay," she admitted.
