HYEJIN WOKE UP WITH A GROAN, nearly hitting her head on something. Rubbing her eyes, she looked up. There was a bed just above her and there was upbeat classical music blaring in the room she was in.
When she glanced around, her eyes just went wide. There were multiple sets of bunk beds all around the massive room. She winced as she sat up, noticing that she wasn't wearing her clothes, but was wearing a cyan tracksuit with the number 069 on the jacket and shirt.
Where the hell was Gihun?
She saw weird drawings on the white brick walls as well, and she carefully made her way out of the bed and descended some metal steps to solid ground. On the middle of the floor was a vibrant red line and a bright blue line, which seemed to divide the floor lengthwise. Close to the blue line was a blue circle and a red X was close to the red line.
There was a screen at the front of the room, high up on the wall so everyone could see. Hyejin had shit vision so she couldn't quite make out the words on it, but she could see the number 456 being displayed.
More and more people began to come down to the floor, like a ton of people. Hyejin started looking around for Gihun, heading towards the bunkbeds at the back of the room and jogging up the steps.
Hyejin weaved through the maze of bunk beds, her heart thumping in her chest. The sheer number of people crammed into the room was overwhelming, the cacophony of confused voices blending with the blaring classical music. Her eyes scanned the crowd, desperate to spot Gihun's familiar face.
She barely had time to register the figure turning the corner. They collided, Hyejin stumbling back with a startled grunt.
"Watch it," a sharp, feminine voice snapped, low and steady with a faint edge of annoyance.
Hyejin blinked, her gaze locking onto the girl in front of her. Short, messy hair framed a strikingly beautiful face, her sharp features softened only slightly by the faint smirk tugging at her lips. Her cyan tracksuit bore the number 380. Hyejin opened her mouth to apologize but found herself momentarily distracted by the girl's eyes.
"Uh, sorry," Hyejin muttered, her cheeks warming. "Didn't see you there."
Player 380 raised an eyebrow, her smirk deepening as she crossed her arms almost snugly. "You've got eyes, don't you? Try using them."
Hyejin straightened up, her annoyance flaring at the tone. "I said I'm sorry. No need to be a—" She stopped herself, biting down on the rest of the sentence as she shook her head.
The girl laughed softly, the sound low and kinda scratched Hyejin's brain in just the right way. "Relax. I'm just messing with you." Her eyes flicked over Hyejin, taking her in as one of her fingers came up to fidget with her lip ring. "You look like you just woke up. Bad dreams, or are you always this clumsy?"
