I had just received the most shocking revelation of my life: My boss was Mysterio. How was I supposed to react? Should I slap him for keeping this secret? That would definitely get me fired. Should I hug him and tell him how happy I was to finally meet him? But employees don't just hug their bosses.
I stood there, staring at him as he looked back, waiting for my reaction.
"Say something.""I don't even know what to say," I admitted.
"How about you say I'm super handsome?" he teased. I rolled my eyes. Typical of him—always full of self-praise.
"How did you know?" I asked, trying to wrap my mind around everything.
"Please sit down. Let me explain everything."
I sat down, feeling like my world was spinning.
"After our argument last night, I threw myself into work. I went through the company records and saw your name: Rose. You told me you worked at Juvango, so I checked your number, and it was a match."
"Wow. I thought you were just some new recruit. I never imagined you were the boss."
"Yeah, your imagination was pretty wild," he said with a chuckle. "But now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's talk about last night."
I hiccupped, thinking the revelation would make everything else fade into the background.
"Well, I did go on a date, but it wasn't as exciting as I made it sound. He kissed me, and I slapped him," I said quietly. He laughed, and I joined in, but something felt different now.
"He deserved it. You don't sneak up on a lady like that," he said, his smile making me feel a little lighter.
"Speaking of which, how was your weekend with your girlfriend?" I asked, feeling a pang of jealousy.
"Your imagination again," he shook his head. "I went to Dubai to check on the new hotel project. I didn't want you to know my identity yet, but I never expected you to find out."
"That's true, but you could have still kept in touch."
"I thought about it, but I wanted to see how much you'd miss me," he grinned.
I couldn't help but smile.
"Now that the mystery's over, what do we do about it?" I asked.
"Well, after last night, I realized I wanted something more. I think you do too. So, how about we start dating?" he said, dropping the bomb.
"Date?" I asked, my mind spinning.
"Yes, after everything, I think it's time," he said.
"Baka," I muttered under my breath.
"What's that?" he asked, sounding surprised.
"It's Japanese for 'idiot,'" I replied, surprised he didn't know. "You've called me that a few times."
"Well, I guess I deserve it," he said, grinning.
"This is all overwhelming," I said, taking a deep breath.
"I can give you time to think, dove," he said, his voice soft and nostalgic.
"Thanks," I said, smiling. After everything, I couldn't deny the connection we had.
"You're not as handsome as you think, and 'Henry' is a pretty common name," I teased, though I was lying about the handsome part. He was gorgeous.
"Well, what can I say? I'm an egomaniac," he replied with a wink.
"That, you are," I said, smiling. "Now, Mr. Egomaniac, it's late. I need to get back to work."
"Sure thing, dove," he said, and the word felt strangely natural coming from him.
"Sure, Boss," I said, feeling a new kind of excitement.
"I'll message you tonight with my new number. You can delete the old one," he said, and I nodded before leaving the office.
Outside, I couldn't stop smiling. I had finally met Mysterio, but he turned out to be my boss—and he wanted to date me. I couldn't believe it, but I was happy. After all this time, everything had changed.
As I walked back to my side of the building, I caught Timi's eye."You took your time," she said with a scowl, her special interest in the new boss clear.
"Well, I was held up," I said, grabbing my bag and preparing to leave.
I have a constant smile on my face, he is my boss and he wants to date me, come to think of it he has like a million girls around him, so why me? Well, am more excited that we have settled and that I have finally met him. He is also gorgeous, I pulled out my phone to start reading our chat, it has become a habit of mine to always read our chat while the driver drives, I know he asked me to delete this number but I won't, I am too attached to it to just delete it, after all its what started all these. Things will definitely take a drastic change
