The van ride back to the dorm was unusually quiet. Normally, Sunoo and Ni-ki would be bantering about the day's events, and Jake and Sunghoon would be throwing in their dry commentary, but tonight, it felt like everyone was holding their breath.

Jay sat next to me, silent and staring out the window. Jake, a row ahead, kept fidgeting with his phone, glancing back at me every few minutes like he had something to say but couldn't quite get it out. Even Jungwon, who usually broke the tension with a calm word or two, seemed lost in his thoughts.

By the time we reached the dorm, I was ready to collapse. The day had been long, and the heaviness in the air wasn't helping.

Once inside, everyone scattered. Ni-ki headed straight to the freezer, rummaging around for sweets until he pulled out a carton of mint ice cream. Sunoo joined him almost immediately, grabbing two spoons and waving them in my direction.

"Y/N!" Sunoo called out, grinning mischievously. "Want to join us for mint ice cream? It's scientifically proven to make everything better."

Ni-ki rolled his eyes as he popped the lid off the container. "You just want to eat it all before anyone else gets a chance."

"Don't expose me," Sunoo said dramatically, holding a spoon to his chest like it was a sword.

I chuckled, shaking my head. "Thanks, but I'm too tired. Maybe next time."

Sunoo pouted, sticking his bottom lip out. "Fine, but don't come crying to me when you miss out on the best comfort food in the universe."

I smiled at his antics, grateful for the moment of levity.

Later, I found myself alone in the practice room. I'd told myself I just needed to stretch, but the familiar space always pulled me in. Before I knew it, I was running through choreography, my body moving on autopilot as my mind replayed the events of the day.

"Practicing again?"

I looked up to see Ni-ki leaning against the doorway, holding the now half-empty carton of mint ice cream and a spoon.

"You're supposed to be eating ice cream," I said, brushing a strand of hair from my face.

"Sunoo started double-dipping," Ni-ki said with a grimace. He stepped inside, closing the door behind him. "Anyway, I figured you might need some company."

I smiled faintly. "Thanks, but I'm fine."

Ni-ki sat down on the floor, crossing his legs. "You always say that, but I don't believe you."

I stopped mid-step, turning to face him. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means you're bad at hiding when something's bothering you," he said simply. "You've been quiet all day. That's not like you."

I hesitated, unsure how to respond.

"Look," Ni-ki continued, his tone softer now. "I know Jay and Jake have been acting weird, but they're just being overprotective. They'll come around."

"Are they, though?" I asked, sitting down beside him. "It feels like more than that."

Ni-ki shrugged, offering me the carton of ice cream. "Maybe it is. But whatever it is, you don't have to figure it out alone. We're all here for you, okay?"

His words warmed my heart, and I nodded, taking a small bite of ice cream. "Thanks, Ni-ki."

"Anytime," he said with a grin. "Now, can we go back to the dorm? Sunoo's probably trying to prank Heeseung by now."

Back at the dorm, Ni-ki's prediction turned out to be true.

Heeseung stood in the living room, holding a spoon with a suspicious smear of green ice cream and glaring at Sunoo, who was doubled over with laughter.

"I knew this tasted weird!" Heeseung said, looking at the ice cream carton accusingly.

"It's just a tiny bit of wasabi!" Sunoo said, wheezing. "You're so dramatic!"

Heeseung looked unconvinced, his expression somewhere between amusement and exasperation. "You owe me mint ice cream. Real mint ice cream."

I couldn't help but laugh, the tension from earlier finally starting to fade. Heeseung caught my eye and smiled.

"You okay?" he asked, his tone kind.

I nodded. "Getting there."

Heeseung gave me a thumbs-up. "Good. Let us know if you need anything."

Sunoo, noticing the exchange, put his hands on his hips. "Hey, no stealing my supportive role! That's my job!"

"Pretty sure it's everyone's job," Heeseung shot back, smirking.

That night, as I headed to my room, I ran into Jay in the hallway.

"Hey," I said, stopping.

He paused, his expression unreadable. "Hey."

There was an awkward silence between us, the kind that made my chest tighten.

"Are we okay?" I asked finally.

Jay looked at me, his eyes softening. "Yeah. I'm just... trying to figure some things out."

I nodded, unsure of what else to say.

"Goodnight, Y/N," Jay said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Goodnight," I replied, watching as he disappeared into his room.

As I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, I couldn't help but wonder what was really going on in his mind, and if things between us would ever go back to the way they were.
