Lan zhan woke up at five in the morning sharp as usual. He looked at his right and saw that wei ying is still in a coma. The latter looked so tranquil and content yet so disturbed and anxious.
It had been two days since the incident and he's still hasn't forgiven himself for letting wei ying get injured like this. It was his fault. That's all he knows.
He sighs and walks over to the single bed near the window to look at his lover.
If wei ying was pale then, now he'd be as good as a ghost. His face held weak features, his plump lips skinned into a line most likely holding back pain right now. It all broke Lan zhan's heart.
The sky was dark as the sun had yet to fully show itself, the vast pavilion level seats a boy fighting the urge to cry as he sees his partner so frail, so fragile, one extra touch and he might dissappear.
Lan zhan thinks about how close he got with wei ying after less than a month of
meeting. It kind of flustered him how wei ying is so open and cheerful, truly the colors for him, after the rain.He caressed wei ying's cheek and plants a kiss like a pot so full of these new feelings on his forehead, continuing his stare at him on.
Lan zhan holds the younger cold hands and butterfly kisses all over to heat them up. Wei ying's body temperature was too low.
As he was about to move, a knock on the door. The entire first level healers pavilion was cleared off for wei ying so it wouldn't be an emergency. It couldn't be a guest since the jiangs have a routine late. So it could only be a Lan. He walked up to the door and opened it to reveal his uncle and brother staring him with relaxed but hesitant gazes.
He welcomed them in and poured jasmine tea for the three of them.
"Wangji, how is wei gongzi?" Xichen asks as he stated at his brother worriedly. He understood that his brother blames himself.
"Wei ying is..okay."
"He doesn't have fever or unusual behavior in his sleep, right?" It was Lan qiren. He came to have a place in his heart for the boy like his nephew's.
"Mn." Wangji replies.
"That's good. Xichen and I have to leave. There's a problem aroused in yunshen. Take care of him."
"I will. Have a safe trip." They conversed some more before qiren and xichen had to leave.
Wangji walked to the low study table and pulled out his guqin. He played Clarity for a long time.
The song ended beautifully once again before he heard low whimpers. He rushed over to wei ying's bed and called him. The responses he got were incoherent but wei ying was looking at him through hooded teary eyes, sweat adorning his forhead.
"Lan zhan..." he weakly called.
"Wei ying. I am here. What's wrong?" He held his cold hand and rubbed it softly between his own.
"It hurts...my head." He looked at Lan zhan dizzily. After being pulled into the Burial Mounds mentally and spiritually, it's only normal if he has pain once in the over world like this.
After a few seconds of contemplation, Lan zhan finally lay down wei ying properly, pulling the quilt over his body to keep him warm whilst he goes to call a doctor.
"Wei ying. Stay like this. I will call a healer." He kissed his palm and hastily walked out. Wei ying closed his eyes. His whole body hurt. Not too much but mentally he feels distraught. After everything Chenqing told him, he feels overwhelmed.
"Wuxian. You need to be careful. In the future many problems will appear for your family but you can overcome them by being wise. Don't make hasty decisions. Be careful of whom you trust. Out of the people you've met so far, they are very trustable. However, I have a premonition that a figure close to the family may try to hurt you all. Whatever I practice with you here, you shall continue in the over world. You can't always be careless. Protect yourself before you protect others. Make a mental note of that. Stay safe..."
It left him broken. Who was going to hurt his family? Of course, it can't be anyone within close vicinity right now. But like Chenqing explained, he needs to be careful. To not make quick judgement and decisions.
He was about to ponder more when Lan zhan came in with a female healer. Both of them rushed towards him as he was trying to get up.
"Young master wei, please, don't move." He complied and set himself back on the bed. Lan zhan was by his side holding his hand whilst the doctor examined his body physically.
"Lan er gongzi, there is no physical injuries thankfully. However, I'm afraid the Yin energy in his body has...increased." She looked down trying to connect dots of how it seemed to have happened.
"Will he be alright?" Lan zhan looked at the doctor with determined eyes. He wasn't gonna lose the person he loves.
"He shall be fine after a good rest. Most likely his body would heal and wake up around wèishí [1 p.m. to 3 p.m.]." The doctor then left.
Lan zhan looked at wei ying who had his eyes closed. He kissed his palm and whispered "wei ying. Sleep." The doctor had closed his acupuncture points and burned a lavender incense which is good for calming the mind.
He got up and walked to the table where he played his guqin. He started playing once again, starting from cleansing to clarity. He continued playing with closed eyes but senses open. Lan zhan played until he heard a knock.
Lan zhan got up and fixed his attire before opening the door. It was Jiang yanli and Jiang wanyin. He stood at the side and welcomed them in, brewing some tea as well.
The two siblings moved to the corner bed where wei ying layed down completely calm and out of this world. He looked like an angel. Jiang yanli could not help the tears from streaming down her face as Jiang Cheng comforted her. He too was quite sad about his brother's condition now. It's been over two weeks since he met his brother and he could say, the entire Jiang clan missed him. But they understood that future lovers needed time together.
The same doctor had explained to them about wei ying's condition. He would definitely be alright. Just rest for long periods and meditate. His mind was unclear and he needed to be in a state where his body and soul was relaxed.
"A-xian.." She continued sobbing silently as she watched his brother's weak state. He really looked calm and healthy right now. She most likely missed her brother, that's all.
"A-jie, he will be fine." Jiang cheng continued to rub soothing circles on his sister's back.
Lan zhan watched them with sad eyes while sitting behind the low table. His guqin which he uses more these days lay there as his fingers flick strings, portraying him handsomely yet tuning a melody calm and easy.
It was almost noon. He could wait till wei ying wakes up.
