Wei Ying woke up with a splitting headache. His vision was hazy, and all he could comprehend was that he was sitting—something unseen was strangling him, cutting off his air.

Tears streamed down his face in pain as he couldn't yell, his lips were sealed, shut. He felt dark smoke around him, whispering and murmuring about revenge- who's revenge? What is it that wants him to avenge them?

A ghost crawled toward him, its presence pressing down on him like an unbearable weight. "Wei wuxian, will you avenge my death?" She moved her long, sharp nails along his body, adding more pain.

Sweat drops appeared on wei ying's face as he twitched uncontrollably. All these ghosts- they wanted him to avenge, but he doesn't know who and what? When and where? He opened his eyes, tears visible. Finally he has escaped this nightmare.

He walked over to the table and poured a glass of water to calm his nerves. Luckily, Jiang cheng was out. Otherwise, he wouldn't leave him and ask questions. A part of wei ying's body was tired from physical pain. He had an unexplainable pain in the back of his head.

Wei ying changed his clothes and freshened up, getting ready for classes. Today they had a morning lecture. He could probably spend the rest of the day inventing new talisman. Maybe one to stop his dreams or give unlimited energy so he doesn't have to experience the pain that still remains on his body. Sleeping at night is like a task he does want to do anymore. Waking up with pain and sadness that he can't really help those dead souls anymore, it makes him crazy.

He was still sitting down in deep thought about everything when a tray of soup was placed infront of him. He looked  up and saw Jiang cheng staring back at him. "You, why do you sleep so much? Do I also have to feed you?!" He asked.

Wei Ying grinned at him. ‘A-Cheng, I’m touched. But... was there really only soup?’ Jiang Cheng scoffed, smacking his shoulder, but his actions carried an unspoken warmth. Wei ying laughed and proceeded to add some chilli flakes for flavor. Gusu's food is really bland and plain. He wonders how Lan zhan manages to eat the same food everyday.

After that, the two packed their essentials and left for the lecture hall. As they entered, wei ying waved at Lan zhan. The latter didn't seem to notice as he was being asked a question by Chen li. Not flattered, he lowered his hand and sat in his row. After the introductory class, they were kind of given a seating plan. Yeah...

Zewu jun entered the hall with xiao Chen hao and Lan qiren. It surprised anyone since they haven't seen the xiao leader at all. Anyways, they greeted them and sat back down, waiting for the class to start.

Today's class was about yin and yang energy- how to defend yourself from them as a robust cultivator. Xiao chen hao went all about the types, giving certain situations as examples. This topic actually intrigued most students although they would have listened whether they liked it or not.

All student except wei ying. He was drowning in a flood of thoughts. He didn't know if the dreams are of true souls or mentor Chenqing has decided to put him on the spot. Either way, he is drained. Can the ghosts really have such effects on him? If so, why is his spiritual energy not helping with it??

He was snapped back to reality when he heard his name be called. He raised his arm and stood up. "I am here." He said while looking at the teacher. Had he been so out of touch with the lesson right now? All eyes went on him as the xiao leader began to question him.

"Since you don't need my lecture now, let me ask you; are imps, demons, ghosts and monsters the same?"

"No." Wei ying simply replied.
