You cheered, admiring the masterpiece in front of you. The cake was all decorated, candles lined up in a perfect circle.. and right in the center.. a tacky picture of Hunt posing in front of a car.
Questioning—admiring, the cake in silence.. Dan, Van, and Talia tilted their heads in unison. Until Val raised an eyebrow, asking, "Ok—what's with the art choosing though?"
Holding back a laugh, Dan blurted, "It's a photoshopped him and some car—"
"It is an art."
You deafened yourself, grinning ear to ear, completely pleased with the only praise you could hear. You couldn't help but already imagine him finding this setup. The grin he'd give you.. the make-up kiss.. and—the things you'd probably do~
Everyone exchanged glances—cringed out. But Dan, ever the peacekeeper, nudged Val—and then Val to Talia—until they nodded. "Yeah—yeah, wow! That's.. that's so cool,"
"You wouldn't understand—" you huffed, giving them an exasperated look—before another euphoric grin bloomed as you cheered, "But he will~" eliciting political grins from the three.
Just then, Tyler and Wyatt returned, looking a bit puzzled. "Seriously, where the heck is he?!" Tyler badgered, glancing around in an almost frantic annoyance.
Talia tilted her head. "Have you checked everywhere?"
"Hmm.. actually, we haven't checked upstairs—"
When Tyler paused, briefly exchanging a look with Liam. For a split second, he looked slightly concerned while his bro appeared serious, a hint of something suspicious flickering in their eyes. But they quickly masked it as Tyler continued, "A—alright, we'll check."
You lit up. "Perfect timing! If he's from upstairs, when he's going down the stairs—it'll match so well with the—eek! Ok guys! That means we should set up this table right by the stairs!" you hurriedly ushered the trio to follow your lead.
For a moment, Tyler and Wyatt looked hesitant, but then Tyler cracked a lopsided smile, and nodded before heading back up the stairs.

As they walked up the stairs in silence.. Every step felt heavier than the last. Each footfall seemed to echo with the weight of what they might find. In reluctance, Wyatt looked at Cavill's stiff back before he mumbled, ending the killing silence.
"Ty.."
Tyler glanced at him, face tired and resigned as he exhaled, "Let's just hope we missed a spot downstairs.." and Liam gulped, letting out a bated breath. When they reached the top, they automatically split up, each checking the bedrooms one.. by one—
