You sat somewhere in Heaven, your thoughts lingering on Lucifer, your friend. However, Lucifer had broken the rules, and despite your efforts to help him, it was all in vain.
You stared blankly ahead, wondering when you might see him again.
"Ow!" A voice exclaimed, accompanied by a crackling flash of lightning. Yet another camera had broken.
Emily puffed her cheeks at you in frustration. She had been trying to take a photo of you, but her attempts were fruitless because you had used your angelic power to prevent anyone from recording or photographing you.
"Emily, I told you it wouldn't work," you said, chuckling softly as you used your power to repair the camera.
"I just wanted to get a picture of you to put in the album I'm making, that's all!" Emily replied, pouting.
You had been assigned by Serah to look after Emily, and you had willingly accepted, eventually becoming her closest friend.
"Why don't you ask Adam to take your picture instead?" you teased, laughing lightly. Hearing that, Emily pouted even more and shook her head firmly.
"Never," she replied with determination.
Emily sat down beside you. It was her birthday, and while the party continued without her, she had chosen to seek you out.
"Why didn't you come to my party?" she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.
"I don't like crowds," you answered playfully.
Emily looked down at the camera in her hands, her expression crestfallen. Seeing her like that tugged at your heart, and since it was her special day, you decided to relent.
Without hesitation, you took the camera from her hands, wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and pulled her close.
"What are you-" Before she could finish, the camera's shutter clicked.
---
Now, in the courtroom of Heaven, silence hung heavy. Emily stared at Serah with a look of betrayal.
"Why didn't you tell me that Y/N went to Hell...?"
"I didn't want you to know about this. It's... not something you should concern yourself with," Serah replied awkwardly.
Emily shifted her gaze to Charlie, who now looked utterly confused. Even Vaggy had lowered her head, uncertain of what to say. Emily descended, landing in front of Charlie, and clasped her hands tightly.
"Can you take me to him?"
The entire courtroom froze, stunned. Even Adam and Lute seemed shocked.
"No, Emily! Don't-"
"Don't stop me, Serah. I'm going to find him and demand answers from Y/N," Emily declared firmly before turning her gaze to Adam. Adam opened his mouth to protest, but Serah intervened.
"Open the gate for her," Serah ordered. Adam scowled but reluctantly obeyed.
Back at the hotel in Hell, you were chatting casually with the others when, suddenly, the gate to Heaven opened. Charlie and Vaggy stepped through.
"Hey, Charlie-" you began, but your words died in your throat when you saw who followed behind them.
Emily soared gracefully through the gate and stopped directly in front of you. You froze in shock, your mouth hanging open. Before you could say anything, she grabbed your hand tightly.
"We need to talk," Emily said sternly, pulling you along without hesitation.
"Wait, Emily, calm down-" you tried to reason, but she was already leading you away.
You follow Emily outside the hotel. She leads you to a wide-open courtyard under the pitch-black sky of Hell, with faint stars shimmering above. She releases your hand and turns to face you.
"Why did you come down here?" Emily asks directly, her voice firm but trembling slightly.
You take a deep breath, trying to gather your words. "I... I wanted to help with Charlie's project," you reply hesitantly.
"And why didn't you tell me? Why did you hide it from me?" Her voice wavers, betraying her hurt. "Do you have any idea how worried I was about you?"
You lower your gaze, unable to meet her eyes, feeling a wave of guilt wash over you. "Because I didn't want you to worry. I just... didn't want you to get involved in what's happening down here."
"This is about you! Do you think I wouldn't care? That it wouldn't matter to me?" Emily retorts, her voice rising. "I don't care where you are or what you're doing. I just need you to trust me and tell me the truth!"
You stay silent for a moment, then finally look up to meet her gaze. "...I'm sorry."
She stares at you, her eyes glistening with tears that she fights to hold back.
"What you're doing... it's not working," Emily says softly, almost in a whisper.
"What do you mean?" you ask, confused.
"Everyone in Heaven has seen what Charlie has tried to do, but... sinners still can't ascend to Heaven," Emily explains.
The weight of her words presses heavily on you. Despite all your efforts and the celestial dust that Emily told you to use, it still hasn't worked.
"Ugh... seriously? Why is it like this?" you groan in frustration. Emily looks at you for a moment, then gently takes your hand, surprising you.
"Promise me you'll make it work," Emily asks, her voice filled with hope. She, too, wants to help Charlie.
"I promise," you reply.
The two of you stare at each other, slowly leaning closer until your lips meet in a gentle kiss. When you finally pull away, both of your faces are flushed red.
"Th-that's what a kiss feels like, huh," Emily says shyly, her cheeks glowing. Your own face burns with embarrassment. But the moment doesn't last, as the distorted sound of static from a radio echoes behind you.
"Well, well... such a rare sight," Alastor says in a cold, menacing tone, though there's still a playful edge to his voice.
You turn to face him, stepping protectively in front of Emily. "Don't even think about hurting her," you warn.
"And if I say no?" Alastor smirks.
"Then try me." Your golden eyes glow brightly with defiance.
In another location, Husk chokes on his drink as he watches the screen showing you using your angelic powers to intimidate Alastor. Husk narrows his eyes in irritation when he notices another angel standing closely behind you.
Alastor sneers but keeps his composure, leaving you with a parting remark: "It won't be long before you learn who's truly in control of this game." Then he disappears into the shadows, as he always does.
Time skip after sending Emily back to Heaven, you receive even worse news. Adam has announced he will escalate the extermination process next week. The justification he's given to Heaven? That sinners in Hell are capable of killing angels. The thought alone makes your head spin, but all Emily can do is warn you to be careful.

"Why did you call me, Sera?" you ask as you step into her chamber in Heaven. You've sneaked back because she wants talk with you.
"You really start pushing boundaries the moment I'm not watching over you, don't you?" she snaps. The golden chains materialize around your neck without warning, yanking you forward until you're forced to meet her eyes.
"I'll give you one last chance," Sera says coldly, tightening the chains further"Stop this ridiculous project of Lucifer's daughter, If you don't, you'll join him down there Permanently."
She releases the chains, and they vanish. You gasp, clutching your neck in pain, barely able to recover before a portal to Hell opens behind you.
"See you in Hell, idiot," Adam taunts before kicking you through the portal and slamming it shut.
