The Black Bulls’ headquarters was alive with the sound of laughter and the clatter of plates as everyone gathered for dinner. The team was in high spirits after a successful mission, their camaraderie filling the room with warmth and noise. Yet, amidst the chaos, you found yourself seeking out a pair of crimson eyes that had become a familiar comfort.

Asta sat across the room, animatedly recounting a story to Magna and Luck. His laughter was infectious, his energy lighting up the room as always. You watched him, a small smile tugging at your lips. There was something about him that was impossible to ignore—a magnetic pull that made your heart race.

Your thoughts were interrupted when Vanessa nudged your arm, a knowing smirk on her face.

“Enjoying the view?” she teased, her voice low enough for only you to hear.

“What?” you asked, your face heating up. “I wasn’t—”

“Oh, please,” she said, cutting you off with a wink. “You’ve been staring at him like he’s the only thing in the room. Why don’t you just tell him how you feel?”

You opened your mouth to protest but found no words. Vanessa’s knowing smile only deepened, and you realized there was no point in denying it.

“I… don’t know how,” you admitted quietly, your gaze dropping to your plate.

“Start small,” she said, leaning back in her chair. “Spend more time with him. You’d be surprised what can happen when you take the chance.”

Her words lingered in your mind long after dinner ended.

A Night Under the Stars

Later that night, you found yourself wandering the courtyard, unable to sleep. The sky above was clear, the stars twinkling like tiny beacons in the darkness. You wrapped your arms around yourself, the cool night air sending shivers down your spine.

“Couldn’t sleep either?”

You turned at the sound of Asta’s voice, your heart skipping a beat as he approached. He was carrying a blanket, his usual cheerful expression softening into something gentler under the moonlight.

“Yeah,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper. “Just needed some fresh air.”

He nodded, draping the blanket over your shoulders without hesitation. “It’s getting cold out here. You should’ve brought something warmer.”

You looked at him, your cheeks warming at his thoughtfulness. “Thank you, Asta.”

He sat down on the grass beside you, patting the spot next to him. “Come on, sit with me. The stars look amazing tonight.”

You hesitated for only a moment before joining him, the blanket still wrapped around you. The two of you sat in silence, the only sounds coming from the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant chirping of crickets.

“Do you ever think about how small we are compared to all of this?” Asta asked, gesturing to the sky.

You glanced at him, surprised by the question. “Sometimes,” you admitted. “It’s kind of overwhelming, isn’t it?”

He nodded, his gaze fixed on the stars. “Yeah, but it’s also kind of comforting. No matter what happens, the stars are always there. It’s like… a reminder that there’s something bigger than all of us.”

His words struck a chord within you, and for a moment, you saw him in a new light. Asta wasn’t just strong and determined—he was thoughtful, too, with a depth that you hadn’t fully realized until now.

“You’re amazing, you know that?” you said before you could stop yourself.

He turned to you, his eyes wide with surprise. “Me? Amazing? Nah, I’m just doing my best, like everyone else.”

“No, you’re different,” you said, your voice soft but firm. “You never give up, no matter how hard things get. You inspire everyone around you, Asta. You inspire me.”

His cheeks turned a faint shade of pink, and he rubbed the back of his neck, clearly flustered. “I… I don’t know what to say.”

“You don’t have to say anything,” you said with a smile.

The Moment That Changed Everything

The conversation shifted to lighter topics after that, but the warmth in your chest remained. Asta talked about his dreams and his training, his passion shining through every word. You found yourself hanging on to every syllable, your heart racing with every laugh and smile he gave.

At some point, the two of you lay back on the grass, staring up at the endless expanse of stars. The blanket you shared was a small barrier against the chill, but his presence was more comforting than any fabric could ever be.

“[Y/N],” Asta said after a long silence, his voice quiet.

“Yeah?”

“I’ve been meaning to tell you something,” he began, his tone unusually hesitant.

Your heart skipped a beat, anticipation and nervousness swirling in your chest. “What is it?”

He turned his head to look at you, his crimson eyes meeting yours. “I… You’re really important to me. More than just a teammate or a friend. I don’t know when it happened, but I—”

Before he could finish, a sudden gust of wind sent a flurry of leaves flying around you, interrupting the moment. The two of you sat up, laughing as you brushed the leaves from your hair.

“Guess the universe doesn’t want me confessing tonight,” Asta said with a grin, his cheeks red.

“Confessing?” you asked, your heart racing.

He froze, realizing what he’d said. “Uh, I mean—”

You placed a hand on his arm, stopping him. “Asta, it’s okay. You don’t have to say anything right now.”

He looked at you, his expression softening. “Thanks, [Y/N].”

A Quiet Promise

As the night wore on, you both decided it was time to head inside. Asta walked you to your room, his usual energy replaced by a quiet gentleness.

“Goodnight, [Y/N],” he said, his voice soft.

“Goodnight, Asta,” you replied, your heart still racing.

As he turned to leave, you called out to him. “Asta?”

He paused, looking back at you. “Yeah?”

“I’m glad we’re on the same team,” you said, your cheeks warming.

His grin returned, lighting up his face. “Me too.”

As you closed the door behind you, you couldn’t help but smile. The night had been unexpected, but it had left you with a warmth that lingered long after Asta’s footsteps faded away.

And deep down, you knew that something between you had changed—something that would only grow stronger with time.
