Danger In The Cave Chapter 16

Meanwhile, You, Sonic, and Knuckles were hidden behind a stack of crates, watching the chaos unfold. Knuckles scowled, his fists tightening as he whispered, “This is why I don’t get involved. Look at this mess.”

You ignored him, your eyes focused on the scene. You knew Shadow wouldn’t stop until he found you. “We need to get out of here before the cave collapses,” you whispered urgently.

Sonic, shaking slightly, nodded. “Yeah, no kidding. But how are we supposed to get past him?” He gestured toward Shadow, who stood at the center of the chaos, his presence commanding and intimidating.

Knuckles smirked faintly, trying to mask his unease. “Leave it to me.”

Before you could stop him, Knuckles grabbed a loose rock and threw it at one of the Knights, hitting him square in the helmet. The Knight stumbled, turning toward the source of the attack.

“Hey! Over here!” Knuckles taunted, stepping out of the shadows.

Shadow’s eyes immediately snapped to him, and a scowl crossed his face. “You again,” he muttered, recognizing the infamous thief.

Knuckles flashed a cocky grin. “Miss me? Thought I’d drop by and say hello.”

Shadow growled, motioning for his Knights to pursue. “Seize him!”

As the Knights rushed toward Knuckles, he bolted, leading them away from you and Sonic. The distraction worked, and you took the chance to pull Sonic toward an escape route.

“Come on! We don’t have much time!” you urged.

Sonic hesitated but followed, his nerves barely holding him together as they navigated through the collapsing cave. You glanced back, your heart sinking as you saw Bliss still standing her ground against Shadow.

“We can’t leave her,” You said, determination sparking in your eyes.

Sonic shook his head, panicked. “Are you crazy? She made her choice! We’ll get caught!”

You ignored him, turning back toward Bliss. You knew you couldn’t abandon her, no matter the risk.

As the chaos in the cave escalated, Bliss quickly turned to Silver and Blaze, her voice firm but calm. “Silver, Blaze, get everyone out of here safely. I’ll handle this!”

Silver hesitated, glancing at the unstable cave walls and the crowd of panicked fans. “Bliss—”

“Go!” Bliss insisted, her usual gentle tone giving way to an authoritative edge. “I’ll be fine. Just make sure they’re safe!”

Blaze placed a reassuring hand on Silver’s shoulder. “Let’s go, Silver. She can handle herself.” The two bandmates nodded and rushed toward the crowd, using their powers to guide the fans out of the cave as safely as possible.

Meanwhile, Bliss sprinted toward the shadows where she had spotted you, Sonic, and Knuckles moments ago. She was able to hold off Shadow but it won't be long until he comes after her. “We need to get out of here!” she shouted as she approached.

Knuckles was crouched on the ground, his eyes gleaming as he stuffed gold coins and gems into his bag. “You go ahead. I’ve got some important business to take care of,” he said, completely ignoring the rumbling around him.

Bliss' rose-pink eyes widened in disbelief. “Are you serious right now?!” she snapped, grabbing his arm.

Knuckles yanked his arm back, scowling. “Hey! Hands off! Do you know how rare these are?!”

Before Bliss could retort, a deafening crack echoed through the cave as a massive chunk of rock broke loose from the ceiling. Her heart leapt into her throat as she saw it hurtling toward Knuckles.

Without a second thought, Bliss lunged forward, grabbing Knuckles’ arm and yanking him out of the way just in time. The rock smashed into the ground where he had been moments earlier, scattering the treasures he had been collecting.

Knuckles stared at the crushed pile of riches in stunned silence, then turned to Bliss, his expression torn between anger and reluctant gratitude. “You didn’t have to do that, you know,” he muttered.

Bliss glared at him, her usual sweet demeanor completely gone. “You’re welcome,” she said sharply, pulling him to his feet. “Now, stop thinking about your stupid treasures and help us get out of here before we all get crushed!”

Knuckles grumbled under his breath but reluctantly followed as Bliss led the way toward you and Sonic, who were anxiously waiting near an exit.

Sonic, visibly shaken, glanced at Bliss. “What took you so long? This place is falling apart!”

Bliss shot him a pointed look. “Ask your treasure-obsessed friend over there.”

Knuckles huffed but said nothing, keeping his gaze on the ground as they hurried toward the exit.

The rumbling grew louder, and more debris began to fall. Bliss glanced back to make sure everyone was keeping up. “Stay close! We’re almost there!”

As they reached the mouth of the cave, a particularly large boulder blocked their path. Bliss turned to Knuckles, her tone urgent. “Can you punch through that?”

Knuckles smirked, cracking his knuckles. “Finally, something I’m good at.”

With one powerful punch, Knuckles shattered the boulder, clearing the way. The group scrambled out of the collapsing cave, gasping for breath as they reached safety.

Bliss turned to Knuckles, her expression softening slightly. “Thanks for that,” she said, though her tone still carried a hint of exasperation.

Knuckles shrugged, trying to play it cool. “Yeah, well… don’t mention it.”

You looked between the two of them before speaking. “We can’t stay here. Shadow’s still looking for us.”

Bliss nodded, her determination returning. “Then we’d better keep moving.”
