"About, umm... Cotillion," he said.
Y/n groaned. "Ugh, that's all everyone is talking about. Jane's part of the decorating committee, so she goes on and on about the different coloured banners and the decorations, while Ben is still planning his secret surprise for Mal, and I'm overseeing all the changes, planning, everything. It's exhausting."
"Are you okay?" he asked her, concerned.
Y/n sighed. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just have a lot of my plate. Anyways, what did you want to say?"
"Oh, umm, nothing." Then, he paused. "Wait, Ben has a secret surprise for Mal?"
Y/n froze. "You weren't supposed to know that."
Carlos chuckled softly. "Relax, I won't tell anyone."
"I know you won't," y/n said with a smile. Suddenly, her phone started ringing. It was a call from Lumiere.
"You have to take that, don't you?" he asked.
"Yeah," she said with a sigh. "I'll see you after school?"
"Yeah, sure."
Y/n smiled. "Bye." She quickly waved at him before dashing out of the fencing arena to take the call.
When she left, Dude appeared, and it seemed like he was giving Carlos a pointed glare. "It wasn't the time, all right?" Carlos said to the dog in justification.

"Subtle but romantic ways to ask a girl out," Carlos read aloud as he searched it up on his computer in his dorm room while news about Mal and Ben played on the TV. "I see you reading over my shoulder," he said to Dude, who was seated next to him. Carlos smiled and stroked his head.
Suddenly, a frantic-looking Mal entered the dorm. She searched for the remote, and once she found it, she clicked it multiple times before the TV turned off.
"Whoa. Easy, girl," Carlos said as he shut his laptop.
"What? You think this is so easy?! You don't have people taking a photo of you every time you open your mouth to say boo!" she yelled at him. "I mean, it's not that I even say, 'Boo', but you know what I–"
"I'm sorry," Carlos mumbled. "But for the record, things haven't been too easy for me either. I'm also dating a member of the royal family," he reminded her.
"I'm sorry," she said. "Carlos, don't you ever miss screaming at people and just making them run away from you?" Mal asked.
"You're thinking of my mother, and I was usually on the other end of that. So, not really. No," he replied. "And besides, why would I? I got more than I could ask for here than on the Isle."
Carlos grabbed the remote and switched on the TV, flipping through the channels before one about him and y/n came on.
"And here one of Auradon's favourite couples are, y/n and Carlos, enjoying a starry evening on the royal yacht," a reporter said on screen. "Who knew the princess could fall in love with a VK just as quickly as her brother did?"
"See what I mean?" he said as he looked at the screen with a lovestruck smile on his face. "Oh, hey!" He jumped off the bed and stood in front of her. "Did you bring it?"
Before Mal could answer, Chad crept into the room. He quietly closed the door behind him before making his way to the desk, when he saw Carlos and Mal.
"Hi," he said awkwardly. "Just came to use your 3D printer. Won't be a sec."
"How'd you get a key to my room?" Carlos asked suspiciously.
