The saying is that you find your soulmate when you are not even looking. You find them when you need them the most.
Oliver Queen was stumbling out of a bar drunk.
Sadie Nolan was yelling at her supposed boyfriend outside said bar.
For some reason, Oliver had the need to step in but before he could the girl ended up punching her boyfriend in the nose breaking it.
And as the cops were pulling in Oliver grabbed her hand and pulled making the girl follow after him even as she screamed at him the entire time.
And that was the beginning of Ollie and Sadie's friendship which was cemented in burgers and milkshakes.
Oliver and Sadie were inseparable and when Tommy was added they ended up being the three musketeers.
Oliver and Tommy always got into trouble then Sadie got them out, or on the rare occasion, it was Oliver and Tommy getting Sadie out of trouble.
Where one was the other two followed.
They were the family they needed.
With Tommy and his mom that died followed by an emotional distance from his son.
Sadie with a Mom who left as soon as she could and a father who gave more bruises and hugs, not that the girl would ever tell anyone.
And Oliver with the only sane-ish family that loved all three of them even when they got calls at four in the morning to bail them out of jail in Cabo but it was for a good reason.
The three had a good life.
In their early twenties.
Trying to figure out life while doing whatever they wanted.
The best of friends turned family.
But then Oliver and Sadie got into an argument. A very loud and angry argument. Oliver's last words to Sadie were: "I am just trying to help you" while Sadie's last words to Oliver were: "She wished she never met him"
That was the last time we saw each other. Oliver hurt and angry got on the Queen's Gambit with his Dad and secret girlfriend while Sadie shut herself off from everyone.
A few days later Tommy showed up at Sadie's apartment, who was in the middle of wrapping her newest bruised ribs from her father, to tell her that the Queen Gambit was missing.
There wasn't much that could break Sadie Nolan but that...that had her falling apart in Tommy's arms sobbing as she apologized over and over again to Oliver.
Five years later everything has changed.
And once again Tommy burst into Sadie's apartment who instead was wrapping her ribs was unpacking her bag getting back from her trip to tell her that Oliver was found.
Alive.
This time instead of falling apart sobbing Sadie was frozen and couldn't move an inch.
Until her eyes went blurry and Sadie was falling then hitting her head on the side of her bedside table.
This is how she ended up in the ER with a concussion yelling at Tommy she wasn't going to Queen's house to see Oliver, which to her surprise she didn't have to when she saw the boy standing at her door staring at the blonde in disbelief.
Soulmates.
No matter how hard you try to keep them apart somehow they find their way back to each other.
And many things will try to pull them apart.
