Agni was never the type to hold grudges. He heard it, processed it and ignored it. That made people believe that he was far too indifferent to get through.
However, Yash knew his younger brother bit too well. When he ignored someone's words, it did not imply that he didn't care, but it meant he was far too hurt to acknowledge them. Today, when he did not respond to his taunt, he knew he had crossed a line.
Somewhere, he felt that he deserved every bit of that hurt if not more but a major part of him was squeezing his conscience out of guilt. He knew he had to make it up to him!
"Agni." Meenakshi's voice was teary. Seeing both her grandsons walk in together gave her unparalleled joy.
"Hey sexy!" he said in a playful voice as he wrapped his arms around her.
She laughed and pulled his cheek. "Shaitaan! Kab bade honge aap?"
Agni kissed her cheek and said, "Jab aap budhi hongi...and that isn't happening anytime soon, my evergreen beauty!"
Meenakshi laughed. "Buttering already, hmm? What do you want?"
"Is it working?" he asked her with a smirk. At her shrug, he continued, "Aap woh besan ke laddoo kab bana rahi hai?"
She shook her head with a chuckle. "Aaj hi banayenge, mera bacha."
"That's like my dadi sa." he exclaimed, excited like a 5 year old. After a while, he looked around and frowned. "Where are my kiddos?"
"Didn't they wake up yet?" Yash asked, looking up from his phone.
Meenakshi shook her head. "They did, Yash. I asked them to go and eat their breakfast but that was...an hour back."
Yash got up from the couch with a sigh. With the pin drop silence in the mansion, he was sure that the kids were up to no good!
As he walked towards the dining room, he heard a slight commotion from the pool area. He looked at Agni who had followed him. The brothers walked in together and were shocked by the scene that greeted them.
Both Kuhu and Kian were standing all dressed in the pool, soaked from head to toe and splashing water on each other. Their giggles grew clearer as they walked towards them.
"What do you both think you are doing?" Yash's angry voice automatically made their giggles die.
"We're having fun..." Kuhu said nervously.
"Fun? Looks more like chasing a nasty cold to me! Have you both seen the weather today?" he asked angrily.
Both of them looked at Agni for help. He didn't disappoint.
"It's chilly." he agreed. "And you need to take a chill pill." he said to Yash.
Yash glared at him. "Stop advocating for these fools! For once, act like a big brother."
Agni frowned at that. "Nahi pehle decide kar lo aap ki mujhe kya karna hai! One moment you're asking me to look out for them and the other..." he trailed off as realization hit him.
That was his bhaiya's subtle way of accepting his fault. His tone might have come from a place of anger but his words implied something different. Even the slightest of his doubts were erased when Yash looked away after noticing the realization in his eyes.
Agni couldn't help but smile. It wasn't common for Yash Jindal to go back on his words. Winking at the kids, he did the one thing that no living creature in their sane mind would ever think of doing.
He pushed Yash playfully into the pool.
"What the-!" Yash gasped as he hit the water with a splash.
Both Kuhu and Kian erupted into a fit of laughter as Yash finally gained balance, sputtering and shaking water from his hair.
