~*~A glimpse of Cassidy's life~*~
"Let's bake something." Sloane said with a bright smile, leaning over the kitchen island. "It'll be fun!"
Cassidy, who was lounging on the counter and playing with a small icicle between her fingers, raised a skeptical eyebrow. "Define fun- because last time you said that, we almost set Jaymie's jacket on fire."
Sloane huffed. "That was an accident!"
"Still happened." Ben interjected from his seat across the kitchen, scribbling something in a book.
Sloane ignored him and turned back to Cassidy. "Come on! We always train, or study, or deal with Marcus' stupid team meetings. Let's just do something... normal for once."
Cassidy sighed, closing her book. "Fine. But I have zero baking experience, so if we burn down the kitchen, I'm blaming you."
Ben scoffed. "Burn, Cassidy? I thought you were going to turn the kitchen into an ice palace."
Raven crossed her arms. "Very funny, squid."
Sloane rolled her eyes. "Ben, if you're going to stay, at least help."
Ben smirked. "Nope. I'm the audience."
Cassidy cracked her knuckles. "Alright, let's get this over with. What are we making?"
Sloane grabbed a cookbook from the shelf and flipped through the pages. "Something simple... how about cake?"
Cassidy leaned over her shoulder, scanning the recipe. "That actually sounds easy enough. Flour, sugar, eggs, milk... and we mix it all together?"
Ben chuckled darkly. "Oh, you sweet summer children."
Cassidy ignored him and got up, opening the fridge. She reached for the milk but stopped when she saw it was warm. "Ugh. This is expired."
"Great." Sloane muttered. "We're already off to a fantastic start."
Cassidy pursed her lips, then held out her hand. A cold mist swirled around her fingers, and within seconds, a layer of frost spread over the milk container. She tapped it lightly, and the warmth disappeared, leaving the milk icy cold.
Ben looked up from his book. "Neat party trick, Elsa."
Cassidy smirked, shaking the container before setting it on the counter. "Thanks. Now, let's make this cake."
*15 MINUTES LATER*
Flour covered everything- the countertops, the floor, Cassidy's hair- and somehow, the batter had turned gray.
Cassidy stared at it in horror. "Sloane. Why is it gray?"
"I don't know!" Sloane said, frantically flipping through the cookbook. "I followed the instructions!"
Ben, watching from the counter, grinned. "I don't think 'dump everything in at once and hope for the best' counts as following instructions."
Cassidy groaned, slamming her hands on the counter. A cold gust of air shot from her palms, instantly chilling the mixing bowl. Sloane yelped.
"Cass, your ice!"
Cassidy quickly reined in her powers. "Shit. Guess I got too frustrated."
Ben shook his head. "Remind me to never bake with either of you. This is painful to watch."
