A few days later, while the group gathered in the library to study, Mary, with her wide smile and bright eyes, could hardly contain herself.
— Guys! Guys! You won't believe it! SpaceX sent me an email! — she exclaimed, excited. — I was pre-selected to take the test! If I pass, I could become an intern!
The news hit everyone like a positive bomb. Josh immediately grabbed his phone, and Lewis did the same. Both began frantically checking their emails, as if time had stopped for a moment. Priscilla, still trying to process Mary's reaction, felt a tension grow in her chest. As usual, she became a little quieter, but her curiosity was irresistible.
— I was pre-selected too! — Josh suddenly shouted, looking at his phone screen with wide eyes. — This is real!
Lewis let out an incredulous laugh, shaking his head.
— I don't believe it... I was too! — He seemed more surprised than happy, as though he were trying to believe this was really happening.
Priscilla stood there for a moment, her heart racing. She looked at her own phone screen, hesitated, then clicked on the email icon. Her eyes scanned the words, and when she read, "Congratulations, you have been pre-selected," shock overtook her body. She smiled in disbelief and looked at her friends.
— I... I was pre-selected too. — She almost whispered, feeling a mix of emotion and incredulity.
Mary, now with her eyes shining even brighter, couldn't contain her excitement.
— Guys, just imagine! — She nearly jumped with happiness. — If I get selected, I'll be working with a top team... and with Elon Musk! The guy's a genius! It would be an honor!
Everyone started talking at once, sharing their emotions. Josh, always more composed, looked at Priscilla with a knowing smile.
— Now we have to pass the test. It won't be easy, but I know we can do it. — He said with confidence.
Lewis, in his laid-back style, shrugged and joked:
— If SpaceX picks us, I guess I'll have to start training my rocket and Mars vocabulary, right? It's gonna be epic!
Priscilla looked at her friends, smiling shyly. She felt the pressure, but also the motivation of being there with them, all sharing the same goal. The feeling of being part of something big, with such special people, made her determination grow even more.
— We'll do everything to pass. We can't let this opportunity slip away. — Priscilla said, now with renewed confidence. She knew the path ahead would be challenging, but with her friends by her side, there was nothing impossible.
They were one step away from realizing their dreams. And deep down, Priscilla knew that no matter what happened, just being together in this moment was already a victory.
The day of the test finally arrived. Priscilla woke up early, with anxiety pulsating through every part of her body. She looked at herself in the mirror, wearing an outfit that was sober but comfortable, trying to project the image of someone confident and prepared, even though inside, the whirlwind of nervousness was hard to control. When she entered SpaceX's headquarters, her heart raced. The environment was impressive, modern, and had a palpable energy, almost electrically charged.
She was immediately directed to a waiting room, minimalist but full of technology, with an amazing view of the outside, where the company's activity seemed frenetic. Priscilla settled into a chair, trying to hide her nervousness, but couldn't help but watch the hustle and bustle outside.
